I’ve driven Explorers or Mountaineers for 30 years. Living in Wisconsin winters are tough on the finish. But it seems to affect only a few specific spots. For years it was the rear wheel wells…now covered with plastic. My 2014 Explorer rusts in two particular spots. Along the chrome strip across the middle of the hatch and the entire bottom edge of the hatch(inside and outside edges. Trying to find s used one , after looking at about 50, they all had the same issue. Some had been touched up, but closer examination showed bubbling. Perhaps Ford could run the same material used on the rear wheel wells across the bottom hatch edge. A rubber gasket might solve the chrome strip problem. Just sayin.
