We have been told on numerous sites that the black ST wheel is painted from the factory. Talking to a wheel repair specialist in Colorado I was told the black wheels are powdercoated at the factory. I just know they scratch easily and cringe when I take it to Discount tire for any work. Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Agree.

I tend to spend time with the techs when at Discount Tire. Shoot the shit and tip them. I have no problem bringing my aftermarket wheels to them for balance and rotation. Have had probable 20 personal and business vehicles through them over 25 years with excellent service. They did once trash the surface of a dually wheel but promptly had it repaired to my satisfaction.
