Local tire shop swapped my wheels from summer to winter and stuffed one of the wheels upright in my trunk causing a tear in the headliner.
A new OEM replacement costs $4400 installed by dealer. This is a one piece part so the fabric is already attached to the foam and just needs to be fastened into the car. Unfortunately it is backordered with no ETA.
However, the tire shop that is responsible, is pushing me towards a "repair". A call to a local auto upholstery shop tells me that a repair consists of dropping the headliner, ripping the fabric off, filling the gouge in the foam and then glueing a new piece of fabric on and finally reinstalling it.
I'm not sure I'm really open to that. It will no longer be a factory headliner at that point and how would it look and hold up? Will it start sagging in 2 years?
What would you expect if it was your car? It's a 21 ST with 50k miles.
