Morning everyone. I have a 2022 ST and my wife has a 2025ST. We did red light races before any modifications and were both neck and neck. I feel like I pulled on her slightly because I got a better launch. I installed a CVF intercooler, CVF hot and cold side charge pipe with blow off valve, I’m lowered and have a drop in air filter. After installing the mods, we did red light races on the same set of streets. She pulled on me pretty hard at every race. What is causing this? Is it because I am not tuned and the ECM doesn’t recognize any of the upgrades? I could understand possibly staying the same because I know these modifications don’t add significant horsepower but it literally feels like I lost quite a bit of power. Thanks guys

I appreciate your feedback. I do not have one yet, but have been wanting to get one before I get tuned and see the differences. I got a solid boosted launch with no tire spin and definitely jumped out in front of her for a while and then she overtook with speed. That’s what’s concerning. Like I mentioned, the last time we raced when we were both stock, I still got the jump on her because I launched better, but then we stayed about the same car lengths, neither one of us pulled on each other. This time she caught up then overtook.

Actually after rereading your post you really don't have any performance mods that give you a gain in HP or Torque. Sure the CVFAB Intercooler will reduce the air temperature which would certainly rob you of less HP, there's no meat on the bone so to speak. Add some downpipes, and you'll beat the '25. Other than that she's got the advantage with the newer drivetrain.

Yes, sir, that is correct, I did not expect any gains in horsepower. Again, what is really concerning me is that she pulled on me in a fairly decent manner when we raced this morning after i had installed all the parts a couple of weekends ago. Prior to that, when we were both stock, we were neck and neck, she was not pulling on me at all. There’s a significant difference now. If I’m understanding your post, are you saying the intercooler could’ve potentially robbed some HP?
The biggest bang for the buck is a tune, everything else is a supporting mod. If you are going to be putting on the downpipes, you may as well get a custom tune at the same time to account for the parts you have already put on. I happen to have a used set of CVFab downpipes sitting in my garage.

Absolutely agree. I received a good deal on the intercooler and charge pipe package which is why those went on before a tune, otherwise tune would’ve been first. I come from the diesel world and know the tunes are absolutely everything. Are you willing to sell the downpipes?

I think there's something else going on. You mentioned that you got the same launch on the '25 as before the mods so if it pulled you after that point, there's not a launch or driver variable.
With the mods you mentioned, worst case would be possible drop in pedal response time (increased lag) from different size piping but once the whirlybirds kicked in, you should not have any power drop.
My thoughts on a possible culprit would be a boost leak. Your piping may be clamped in but you may have a crack in a rubber coupler. I'd go over those connections again.
If not that, I know the IC is new but you may want to get it pressure tested if the clamped connections prove sound. I'd also check for possible blockage in or around the drop-in filter.
Let us know.
