Hello Guys,
Im pretty much interesed in tune my Explorer ST 2025 however I live in Mexico in which actually we do have bad fuel qualitity "the best fuel is between 90 to 91 octanes!" We do not have more than 91 octanes.... Based on this I do see that the best tunes in USA are the ZFG, GOOSTUNE OR LIVERNOISE.. all of them have great power gains starting on 93 octanes! Therefore my main constraint is , I can use a tune for 93 octanes using 91 octanes instead? Despite that the engine will not deliver the 100% of power is there a potential risk of knock or possible damage in my computed / engine?

Hopefully someone can provide me clarity on this so I can choose the best tune according to the fuel that we do have in Mexico!

Thanks!!

ALl the tuners offer 91 specific tunes, you definetly wouldn’t want to put 91 octane in with a 93 tune. Just specify what octane you plan to use and they’ll tune you for that.

Yes, but I mean if I would pick the most powerful map then I would need to choose the 93 ... what could happen if I choose the 91 octane tune and I add VP or additive to increase octanes up to 98? Tune can not run well? I used to run 1/4 mile one a month here thats why I want the most powerfull tune in which I can add some additives whenever I go to the raceway.

Don’t. Cause if you forget to add additives then you’ll be running 91 on a 93 tune which wouldn’t be great. 91 is plenty powerful and you won’t have to worry about additives or the cost and effort associated with it.

The other doubt that I have is ZFG has different applications , Race, perfomance, daily diver etc.. My logic says that I should choose the race one but to be honest dont know if this tune can works me also for daily driving and traveling in highway with the family. Whats your thought in regards these options?

Race tune is great. Drives really well even in day to day applications.
