I had this leak on the driver side for about 3 months now.

Removed the Driver Side A pillar and other driver side trim.
Ran a water hose around the front of the windows shield until I see the water dripping.

Found out the water was leaking from the roof trim bracket.

Pry up on the front of the trim to disconnected it from the taps.

To get access to the 2 10mm bolts, you will need to drop the headliner. See Houston Speed Freaks Explorer ST Roof Rail Delete

Add Black Silicone around all the bolt holes.

Instead of silicone use butyl rope. It’s a much better tool for that job. Silicone will delaminate over time especially off smooth surfaces like car paint. Butyl is what they glue your windshield in with…it’s not going anywhere. I sealed all of those holes with it on my car when I did the roof rail delete.

How did you know it was leaking Could you visually see it inside? I just washed my car for the first time, new owner of a 2022 explore ST and saw sum puddling on the passenger floormats. wasn't wet anywhere on the celling so I don't know if it was my PTSD from my 2021 grand Cherokee, I traded in that had Major leaking issues lol LOVE my explorer

Your issue isn't the roof rails leaking, Your issue is the trim panel over the battery under the hood on the passenger side, If that panel is not snapped in correctly at the base of the windshield, water will get in and puddle in the passenger footwell.

How do I locate this ?
Most likely it was the battery cover. Dry out your interior first and make sure it doesn't get wet again before you go digging around for the drain hose.
