I bought a set of used PIU Interceptor Calipers and Brackets to upgrade my Standard Brakes on my ST. I took them apart and had them painted. I noticed that the guide pins seem to have resistance sliding in and out. They move freely but a bit of resistance. I am not sure if that is the way they are supposed to be.. No signs of rust or damage on the pins and I have used the correct grease. I made sure to cover the slide pins holes when painted. Just want to make sure I am not installing Damaged brakes.

One of the pins has a rubber insert. I would pull the pins out and grease.

Slide pins seizing up is a common issue with all calipers of this design in general.

Usually what i do is remove the slide pins, remove any rubber inserts on them and hit them on a buffer to shine the pins up. Then for the bores, i'll usually buy a hone brush for a drill. Add some lubricant and hone the inside of the bracket for a bit. Flush it all out with brake clean, relube with good synthetic grease and assemble.

Given where i live in the northeast, stuck/sticking slide pins tend to be common and I almost need to do this somewhat annually on many of the cars i've owned.
