I had a long chat with the Ford people regarding an upgrade to the 2025 ST Model and Bluecruise. The short version is as follows, and I quote.

"I completely understand your concern. At this time, Ford has not announced any plans or confirmed future updates for the 2025 ST models. What we can share is simply that there is no official information available yet regarding future upgrades."

As was then explained to me, any future upgrades, including the currently available 1.5 version, require different hardware that is not on the 2025 models, simply put, we are all out of luck.

I've only used it once, but it was about 75 miles on I-20/59 in north Miss and Alabama. It worked fine. I set it at 80, and use the blinker to auto-change lanes. What else does it need to do, or is it missing? I use the adaptive stop and go cruise daily on my way home, due to crappy traffic, and it works great too. For about 12 miles, I never touch the brake or gas.

The 2026s got an updated version, but there was no plans for them to bring the updated version to the 2025s via a update. Ford wont bring it to the 2025s because they have to have some selling point for the new 2026s I would think.

I guess I still don’t understand what else it does? I went into this thinking it didn’t do self lane change but it does which is was gladly surprised it. I mean I guess it doesn’t turn the blinker itself, but once you bump it it keeps the blinker on until it finishes the change. And it drives very well.

I love the adaptive for traffic also. I use eco and it makes it much less jerky

It really works well. It keeps me sane in daily traffic. My 2019 edge wasn’t near as smooth braking and following. This thing is great.

OK, so I did some research — the 2026 model gets auto lane change. Personally (and maybe I have trust issues), I’m fine without it. I actually like having control and just bumping the blinker stalk to change lanes. You don’t even have to press it all the way to lock it in blink, just the three blink nudge — it’ll keep blinking until the lane change is complete, then turn itself off.

It still requires supervision, of course. I can see auto lane change being risky if a crotch rocket comes flying up out of nowhere, though maybe the newer tech accounts for that. What I did notice is that it drives the car perfectly centered in the lane — it’s the Billy Bob in the oversized truck drifting across the line that it won’t always pick up. A few times I had to grab the wheel to nudge the car over a bit. We weren’t in danger of hitting anything, but as usual, it’s the other drivers that are the problem.

I’m still amazed at how many people stare at their phones at red lights or while driving. Mine goes on the MagSafe charger and stays there — I don’t touch it. A larger upgrade to BlueCruise would be letting me set it at 85 instead of 80 LOL

Just got a 2026 Explorer ST - The Bluecruise is now a lifetime subscription as is the connedtivity package and 3 yrs of SirriusXM and the Bluecruise now turns oon / off blinker and changes lanes without intervention.

That’s what I thought. Honestly I’m fine controlling the blinker. I don’t feel it has enough tech to avoid cutting off a fast moving vehicle. But maybe I’m wrong.

Funny thing happened, my Blue Cruise expired two months ago, and it still worked like a charm on my last 500 mile round trip.

How much is the lifetime? Mine had a year (+3mo trial) subscription for $500. It's a nice system but can't see myself getting it every year for $500 annually.

Update: so google says the lifetime is $2500.

Soon they'll be charging you for heated seats & steering wheel that's supposed to come with the vehicle

BMW has looked into this. Creature comforts will have a sub, like a heated steering wheel.

On BC, I will likely only use it 7-10 times a year, but I am going to subscribe to it.
