I’m ready for an air intake system. Any suggestions? Will it void warranty?

Agree with @Dale5403 comments on the aFe intake. Aesthetically I picked the aFe.

Does $600 for a plastic box seem absolutely ludicrous to anyone else?!?

Considering it’s basically 2 intake systems with a shared filter housing…no.
Care to explain for those of us that are less mechanically inclined?

Most vehicles use a single intake tube and a single air filter along with a filter housing. The kit for this is to intake tubes and two air filters inside of the filter housing so it’s affectively a pair of CAI’s. Twice the parts will mean a higher selling price.

It's 2 tubes, one from each turbo, each with a separate filter, and a box that they meet in. It's nicely made, fits perfectly, and doesn't throw codes unless there is installer error. It works with all the various connections and hoses that this spaghetti monster of an engine uses. And it's 2022 with 2022 engineering and materials costs. This isn't some crappy filter on a garbage chrome steel tube that barely fits like an old BBK "system" for a Fox Mustang. I think the price is more than justified for the work that had to be done and what you get.

I realize this thread is 10-months old and I'm sure there are newer threads I didn't come across yet. My apologies up front.

Can anyone tell me if the AFE CAI is/was worth it. Any real benefit in fuel mileage or felt HP or torque?

If this is the only thing you are doing, No. Aesthetics only. I have it installed on my ST just for the looks and the hope that it is beneficial after all of the other performance mods that I put on.

As mentioned, you might get a slight bump but unlikely you would notice. With a tune you might get 10-15hp tops out of the intake.
