Install J&L catch can

2025 Explorer ST Trying to install J&L catch can, but there instructions don't match the 2025. I have finally gotten the can mounted but am struggling to remove the hoses from the engine. How do you do it, there not like what they show in there video.

I have a UPR oil catch can on my 25'. Look up their installation video on their website and that might be the help you need.

Your best bet is to look at the UPR catch can install video, and then the FENFAB V2 video from HSF. Those two videos will show you how to handle removing and cutting some of the hard plastic hoses our vehicles use.

Caster, thanks for the reply. What did you have to do to remove the hose connectors. I don't seem to be able to figure out how they come out. I don't want to ruin them.

When I installed on the 2025, no hose cutting was required.

I do recall an over/under routing.of the new hoses. Check the pics below.

Caster, thanks for the reply. What did you have to do to remove the hose connectors. I don't seem to be able to figure out how they come out. I don't want to ruin them.
Its hard to remember because it was in July of 2024 but I believe I cut the OEM fitting and locking tab apart with a pair of dyke cutters in order to remove it. The UPR kit I purchased came with new hoses with connectiors that are push tab removable.

With what I could find that appears to be the only way to remove them. I had found a statement that said they were not supposed to ever be removed. I didn't really want to do that.

RFC1992, do you recall what you had to do to remove each of the connectors. Do the blue parts come off or are supposed to be pushed in to release. I've tried my hands, pliers and screwdriver but have not been able to get them to move. I'm sure it is probable very easy once you know the secret.

As I recall, the fittings were similar to those on my Mustang. There is a small blue tab that I pulled back, then pulled the hose off at that end. It took more force than I thought, but the retention piece (blue tab) remained intact.

Repeated 3 times. I saved the old hoses which now would just push-on to reconnect. I saved the original parts for in case I wanted to revert to stock.

the tabs are tiny and can break like one did in my Mustang. That is how I removed the original hoses.

thanks, RFC1992, I looked in the repair manual for the 2025 Explorer and it states that the PCV quick release couplings are one time use only. Unfortunately, they don't go into detail on exactly how to remove them but imply that the tab has to cut off. I'm going to try again this morning.

I'll check mine... perhaps I broke them and did not notice.

Well I got it done and all appears to be good. I had to break the blue portion of the connect and it came right off however once off and could see how it works, all you have to do is move the little tab sticking out and the connector should slip right off. All the looking I have done, I have not been able to find anything that told how to do it. I should also note that at least the 2025 is not the same as other earlier ST models. J&L should review there instructions because there are changes. Thanks everyone for your input and help
