Probably a long post so strap in.

Bought our 2023 ST in April ‘24 and currently has just shy of 16K miles on it.

When we first got it had an air leak in the intake that ended up being some ambient vent or something. After that it always felt a little rough when idling. Fast forward a few months and Ford decided it needs phasers. They change them and when I get it back it would smell awful like burning clutch every time I drove it more than 15 minutes. I told Ford about it and they said they couldn’t get it to do it and it was nothing to worry about. During this time it started running more and more rough at idle. I told Ford and started doing my own research. The conclusion was that it was probably burning off some sort of assembly lube or grease and the idle was normal EcoBoost hunting.

Now a few more months down the road it started shuddering while changing gear and quickly degraded into hanging between gears and slamming into gear. I took it to the dealer again and now they agree something in the trans is smoked. While waiting for a slot and loaner availability it has now gotten much worse. The transmission is still doing the same thing but now there is an awful rattle from the lower rear of the motor and the coolant looks like a strawberry milkshake. I’m convinced the motor and trans are blown up and I should fight with the dealer until they replace both. It goes in tomorrow to be assessed and I’m just wondering what you guys think. I absolutely love my ST and it’s one of my favorite vehicles I’ve ever owned. The whole situation just has me really bummed and unsure of what the hell to do.

Also to clarify it is not modified in any way.

Update, I just spoke to the dealer and they are saying that they want to make sure that the coolant and transmission fluid aren’t intermixing. It sounds like they are trying to find a way to just do the transmission and not the motor.
