Greetings. Ive had my 2024 ST a little over a year now.
I just keep finding things. Small quality issues including the
latest find which is the emblem on the leading edge of the hood.
EXPLORER is applied crooked ! :ROFLMAO:
I dont have a pic to post at the moment. But the dam thing is applied crooked.
$61,000.00 for the vehicle and they just dont pay attention to what they build at the Ford Plant in Chicago.
Their QC is lacking big time. Just also had the thing loose power making a right turn from a stop this morning.
Not the first time thats happened and the dealer, unless a light indicates something, they have no clue.
I like the vehicle but I would like it a lot more if it had been checked for all
these defects I keep finding, before I bought it.
If I were ever to buy a new one, which is becoming questionable in my mind,
I'd spend several hours looking at it real close before purchasing it.
Thats due to the fact that Fords Quality control on these is very poor.
And all the dealers do is roll them onto the lot. They dont even lower the air pressure in the tires.
You yourself have to find all the flaws and have them fixed by the dealer.
I will have this logo re applied and I will complain about the loss of power again.
For the money I have paid, its disappointing. Makes me wonder what else was not done correctly?
Like it bogging down turning from a complete stop. What about the things I cant see? Were they also done
in a slipshod manner?
Anyone else have an explorer emblem applied crooked across the front of the hood?

I've written about this in another thread on this forum about this exact topic. I can't remember which thread it was in. I was one of the Sr. Project & Program Managers at the company that produces the EXPLORER hood lettering badges for Ford. It is extremely difficult to keep the letters straight and in perfect alignment and spacing within the foam carrier that these letters are put into when manufacturing them and then sending them into the plant to be installed onto the hood(s). I wrote up a lot of detail on this in the past thread. I do agree that receiving a vehicle with this issue is something that I myself would have an issue with and I would want it replaced. There is an Explorer in my neighborhood that has one of the letters very obviously crooked and it drives me crazy everytime I walk past it! This same company also produces most of the Ford oval emblems (along with many other Ford and other OEM badging). When I got my new 25' ST I noticed an issue with the inner chrome racetrack ring around the front grille, Ford oval badge. I obviously knew contacts within my previous company to get a replacement for the defective one I received on my new vehicle. Since I was changing it out from the defect, I went with the black and chrome Ford oval vs. the original blue and chrome. Me taking care of this on my own saved my previous company from a Ford quality ding on their record.

Let’s call a spade a spade…if it took you a year to find it it must not be that bad and at this point you just want to find something to complain about.

It is not a matter of one letter being out of line. The entire logo is slanted up diagonally. The first letter is in the right spot. Its just the whole thing slants upward. Its crooked. I've seen videos of a person applying the logos with a machine and evidently, they did not pay much attention when mine was applied.
As far as a "spade being a spade" as unbroken puts it, I suppose if this was your car and you kept finding issues, small though they may be, you wouldn't mind?
I paid over $61,000.00 for this Explorer. Im not making payments. I bought it and Im dam disappointed because that logo being crooked is emblematic of all the quality controls that were overlooked on this particular vehicle. A crooked emblem is not all thats been found.... I'l say it again. I expected more for the money I paid.
Thanks for your two cents Unbroken. I know from reading many of your posts, that you are hot tempered and arrogant as if you yourself
were building these vehicles and you personally take anyone's complaints as a personal insult.
Which to me personally is kind of goofy. I suppose I should not be concerned at the power dying off making a left or right turn?
Another non issue in your mind? The dealer has done not a thing to address it.
Thank you for your input Unbroken. Even though its snarky and unhelpful.

How much gas is in the tank when it drops dead on corners? I had a 87' IROC Z28 that would do that if it had less then a 1/5 tank of gas. I don't think the dealer can charge back the factory for repairs unless they have complaints from a car owner. I had issues with mine, but I blamed myself for not spotting them and just moving on.

On my 25' ST so far -

1) The side mirrors and the decklid will not remain in manual mode and automatically change back to auto-mode even when the infotainment display icons show they are in manual. I took it in for these issues in September or October of last year. The dealer tested a new one on their lot along with mine and both were the same way. They say Ford needs to come out with a software update to fix it. I also have a case open with Ford on this issue which amounts to nothing. It has been 7-months and no fix yet. It totally pisses me off.

2) The cruise control will just shut off on its own for no reason. Sometimes (not always) the vehicled lets out a chime when it does it but there is no message or indicator as to why it did it.

3) Also in cruise, it will randomly and suddenly drop 2 - 3 MPH for no reason and it feels like it goes into engine braking mode when it does it because it makes you noticeably lunge forward a bit. It is not auto braking and the adaptive cruise control is not on. It will do it even if no cars are in-front of you at all. Its all random with no pattern as to when or why it does it. After it drops the speed and figures itself out, it accelates back up to speed. Eventually I will reach back out to the dealer on it.

More and more computer bull$hit just leads to more and more problems like this and other random glitchy BS.

Unfortunately all of this is just normal for any modern vehicle. Shouldn’t be, but that’s just the way it is. Some of it is bordering nitpicking though, and I don’t blame you guys.

If it bugs you that much take the letters off…but I stand by what I said…if it took you a year to notice you really didn’t care that much to begin with. You may not like my delivery…but I don’t sugar coat shit.

Is your logo placed off on your hood? Why did you comment on this thread in the first place other than to
find fault with me? You don't sugar coat shit? I think you're just rude and arrogant and I don't like your tactless delivery or pointless comment one bit. Go find some other thread to pollute with your BS.

I will stand by what I said. This thing has way too many defects for the price they charge for the vehicle.
The bogging down only happens in sport mode. But it happens and its a concern pulling out into traffic.
I grew up hearing Ford, where quality is number 1!
Well, I'm not seeing it. Not in the XLT I had or this ST.
I moved to the ST for the power. I like it for that.
But they need to pick up the slack and check these things before they deliver them.
Because all the little things that keep going wrong or defects I find and the hesitating loss of power
are dampening the experience.
Caster, I hope you get some satisfaction from Ford.
The dealer will re apply my Explorer logo and a few other items that have come up.
I suppose there will be no fix to the engine bogging down until some light comes on or it causes an accident.
They cost too much to be so sloppy on the builds.

I won’t be one of the normal yes men running around patting you on the back. I don’t care who or what you like…I find it patently amusing that it took you a YEAR to notice something and then decided it’s worthy of a multi-paragraph thread complaining about it.
A week? I’m on your side.
A month? I’d let that slide.
A year? I have no sympathy at that point.
Have fun dealing with Ford.
To answer your question about mine…I pulled that ugly mess off the day I got the car home.

You really are un helpful.
Why did you comment in the first place Unbroken?
Its a pattern with you. Someone comes on here and complains about the vehicle and you get rude.
Ive read it it over and over in your comments on other threads when people complain about the poor workmanship. You get a twig up your kiester.
They dont have an Explorer plant in Texas, so whats your problem?
Whats up with that?

You have fun now. Happy trails.

Youre one person with a story. Ford sells thousands of explorers. Many will not experience any issues. My 21 ST was great. My SHOs were/are great.
Sorry your letters are messed up. Also bogging down with the wheel turned is common with owners. Search the site.

Isn't the 'bogging down" simply the transmission shifting to a higher gear which drops it out of boost range? It shifts up because you are getting on it too hard in a turn and the wheels slip. Try doing it with traction control off or do not get on it hard until you are almost out of the turn. It will pull hard through first into second without a problem. It alarmed me the first time it happened to me too.
