so I just purchased a 2025 Ford Explorer platinum with the 3.0 with the upgraded platinum package

I didn’t wanna get a ST because of the interior I just liked it. Everything else about the platinum just for the insides but here’s the problem that I’m having. I wanted to do some modifications to the car which I am going to do later probably going to do a cold air intake, and some other modifications for some speed.

but the thing that I do not like, and I’ve been researching is the steering did I do not like I’ve been researching and I seen some people on the forms here I just needed some direction on. What would you guys do? I need to handle a little bit better because I don’t like the feel of it. It’s very loose and I don’t want to have to dump a lot of money in it if I don’t have to I was looking at front and rear sway bars and a strut tower brace but seeing some people commenting on here saying that the tower brace is not needed in the front sway bar is not needed. I just wanted to feel tighter like a sports car so I don’t know what to do I wanna handle this first before I do anything else remind you I am not going to make this thing really fast. I just wanted to feel like a SUV what a little bit more sporty feel to it later into the future like I said we’ll put performance mods. My plan is to gain probably another 100to 150 horse power and that a it which is most likely some bolts, any tune but I really need some help. If you guys could get me in the right direction cause my thought process is to buy a strut brace. people said it helps out. some people said it don’t. And obviously I checked YouTube. I checked TikTok read some forms and it’s really confusing. I just want it to handle better for me driving on the freeway at 60 to 80 and not feeling that. I’m going to turn the wheel slightly and be so loose to end up in a guard rail lol but please I need recommendations before I spend a whole bunch of money unnecessary

My suggestion would be to start with the rear sway bar. That should help tighten it up a little in the back.

Then, if you're interested in doing them, lowering springs.

Then re-assess things and see if you want to experiment with the front strut bar and/or the front sway bar. (which most likely won't help much).

The rear sway bar and springs should be fine though

A front sway bar and strut bar wont make a noticeable difference. A rear sway bar will transform the way the car handles. For the extra power, a tune and intercooler will give you a lot more power. There’s a lot of info on what mods are worth it and which ones aren’t in my modding guide, it should help you get info:

Houston Speed Freaks rear swaybar
Steeda rear subframe bushing brace kit
FenFab billet vertical links
Steeda adjustable toe links
Drop springs of your choice
Check to see if there’s any Forscan mods to firm up the electric steering rack like the ST does when in Sport mode.

From everything that I’m seeing like on different threads and what people are saying the way the car is like so loose in the front they said stay away from the front sway bar, strut tower brace, and the Springs cause I don’t wanna lower the it it’s just too loose and not stiff where I want it to be and they said the back sway bar does help a little bit, but I would really like to just focus on the front and see if there’s a different option. Some people swear on the tower brace really makes difference, but I just can’t believe that and I know the front sway bar is not going to help me. Everybody told me that it does not do Jack but if those are my only options, I think I might start off with the front tower strut brace. See if that does anything if not, I’m gonna go rear sway bar

A rear area bar and the other mods Unbroken mentioned will tighten the whole car up. You dont necessarily need springs if you dont want them, the other mods are more important. Trust me, the strut bar wont make a difference, its a waste of money if you are wanting more handling capability.

Thank you appreciate it. That’s probably where I’m gonna start. I’m gonna do the back sway bar. See how that is then go for spring. Any suggestions on a cheap ones just throw it on there to see if there’s anything different cause I really don’t wanna give $300 on one

The car so loose is the problem like when I’m driving on the freeway going into turns with and without lane assist it feels like it’s just too loose and not responsive enough

For the rear sway bar, I'm going to get the HSF for the springs I'll be doing H&R, no idea who makes the cheapest ones though

I got the Steeda rear-sway bar; I'd likely heed UNBROKEN's advise and do the Houston Speed Freaks. Worry not about the tower brace - I did it and there was no difference... other than cosmetic. The rear-sway bar is transformational. Also, use more lube on the bushings than seens reasonable -- you will not thank me later because you won't have the squeaking. I plan to re-lube mine tomorrow.

UNBROKEN has done more on these vehicles than most will ever do... he is an expert. There is a lot of knowledge on this site -- I have learned a lot.
