Not this product. It is sprayed into the intake and definitely hits the back of the intake valves. It was introduced specifically for direct injection engines so it does clean the intake valves. IIRC I use a grommet just before the throttle body.

No worries. I did some research and also have a couple friends with high mileage DI motors (150k+) that swear by the stuff. I do run top tier gas but I also run some Techron through a tank every 10k or so just because I like to switch cleaners every so often. Probably overkill but it’s cheap insurance imo.

It never sees the valves. Fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber. Hence the term, Direct Injection. The only thing the intake valves see are air and oil vapor. That’s why a lot of us run catch cans. You would need to spray the cleaner into the intake, but I don’t know how the turbos would like it. Unless you inject it into the cold pipe somehow.

I used to find a vacuum line after the maf and use it to suck about half a can of seafoam in then shut off the engine and let it sit for 30 min. Fire it up and enjoy the Batman smoke screen for about 20 seconds. I did this on older turbo cars w higher mileage knowing I could possibly wash carbon off the cylinder walls and cause blow by or clog the cat but every car I did it in ran better afterwards.

That was my technique in the past. Some of those higher mileage cars would really put a good smoke show after firing it up. No mosquitoes in the area after that!

One reason I do it more frequently is hoping it stays relatively clean instead of crusty and less likely break off. I’ve seen the results of walnut blasting the intake valves clean. Before looked like 200k of crap built up. After it looked brand new. Not a cheap job though as the intake comes off and you blast each individual intake port.
