Choosing between these two batteries. Leaning more to the Duralast.
There is a auxiliary battery in the rear back. They say it's for Autostop and some other stuff. Do ya recommend on replacing this too. I don't know if it's dead too. I'm thinking I'll get recharged after the main battery replacement
The auxiliary battery might be for the Interceptor or even their hybrids. I don't think the hybrids are available in the US.
I'm hesitant to recommend this because it was a stretch for me, but here I am all the same. I replaced my battery a few months back and shopped all the major names and brands.
Surprisingly, Walmart was the best of the bunch for warranty/cost ratio. They offer a 4-year warranty and their AGM ran $190. I kinda feel liked I threw away my OE values, stooping so low as to consider Walmart, but I did. I didn't have and wouldn't consider letting them install it.
It's way too early to proclaim this was a good decision, but it's been working just fine. I tried to tell myself it wouldn't bother me so much once the cover was back on, and it hasn't.
I wouldn't go the Duralast route again as one of my trucks went through 3 of their batteries in a 4 year time frame. I switched back to a Motorcraft battery and never had a battery problem again. Of course like anyone else I thought there must be another problem but I checked, charging system and draw numerous times and there was never an issue.
Now to be fair it was a truck that I didn't drive alot and I know that a new battery needs to be seasoned by driving and cycling, but I really believe it was driven enough to accomplish that. Autozone was great with the warranty I never had to pay a dime for the replacements but sometimes the best warranty is the one you never need to use.
Best of luck.
