It probably is only 385 if you're running 87 octane
Odd, both foot notes say premium fuel.

"Horsepower and torque ratings based on premium fuel per SAE J1349® standard. Your results may vary. "

Probably just a typo.
My thought as well. I'm an engineer and I spend a disappointing amount of time reviewing and correcting incorrect technical specs in our marketing materials.

The spec page had two typos. HP, and both the ST and Tremor got 3.58 final drive ratio, not the 3.31

I don't think the information has updated regarding the choice to only use the 3.0 in the Tremor and ST.

as for the 385, was it ever 385 for standard models and 400 for Platinum/ST. I know on the Expedition, they would always give extra HP for the higher trims.

Just revisiting this. As far as I can see, all mention now on the Ford web page has the hp at 385. The Aviator page has it at 383 hp now as well.
Has anyone heard any more on this? Seems more than a typo.

Popcorn in hand here.

Seems to me this is not a typo. Have read a few FB group rumors that this is a quiet revision due some changes made, but have not seen anything official from Ford other than their own website.

I'm searching the site and there is no more mention of 400HP anywhere

When did they implement the GPFs?
There is no official statement from Ford unless they are planning for 2027 and just getting ahead of the game and underrating the 2026?
I have a March Production 2026 and am going to look under it to see if I see anything by the cats, not sure If it even will be visible though.

Searching around, it seems ford started introducing the GpF on the 2026 F150 ecoboost only, and will begin rolling it out to more models/trims as we go. No mention of it being on the Explorer yet

Only technical difference I have found are the turbos. 2025+ are slightly smaller on the compressor and turbine side by 1-2mm.

What’s odd is that there was a bunch of EPA roll backs, I didnt read too much into it, but wonder why Ford would start putting more emission equipment in the vehicle if there was deregulations.

I was wondering this too.

Gotta find some people who had both a stock 25 and a newer 26 to see if it felt different.

Not to make this political, but it's because the EPA hasn't rescinded the 2027 Multi-pollutant emissions standards...yet. That standard is supposed to roll out for the 2027 model year.

No word on if they are going to. I searched and didn't see anything mentioning this.

So it appears SAE J1349 was revised sometime in late 2025/early 26. I do not feel like spending $170 to buy a copy of the latest revision to read to see what exactly changed and if it would account for the 15HP loss of power.

SAE J 1349-2011 (SAE J1349-2011) - Engine Power Test Code~Spark Ignition and Compression ignition~As Installed Net Power Rating

EDIT: in digging through what i can find, the 2026 revision does standardize testing in vehicles with selectable drive modes, in addition to a few other changes. SOURCE

Does a stock tune ST produce the same max boost in Normal mode vs Sport mode? I wonder if J1349 now requires testing in the default startup mode, as I know other standards for emissions, sound dB readings and fuel economy all need to be tested in the startup mode as well.

EDIT2: No that still doesn't make sense. You think Ford would have had their marketing folks come up with a way to boast about 400HP if they could even if the revised J1349 only tested to 385HP. Hmm
