I have been using Rove dashcams for the past 8 years. I am on my second one, I decided to retire the first one 3 years ago, the internal battery died and the date/time would keep resetting.
I have a Vantrue model. Could have easily gone with a Viofo, which seems to be about the most popular. I just happened to get a good deal on the Vantrue. Due to the giant trim piece covering all the windshield gadgets I had to install it on the passenger side to keep it out of my face.
Whatever you get, I suggest you avoid models that hang like this. I've seen plenty of videos where this style of camera ends up either pointed at the sky or down at the dash after a collision.
Installed the Rove R3 dash cam last year and never looked back. It's a 3 channel with WiFi and GPS.
It almost covers 360° around the vehicle using the front cam, rear cam and in-cabin cam. It can run 24 hrs
so you can log parking incidents or have it on standby and it will automatically activate if the vehicle is bumped.
If the vehicle battery starts to run low, it will automatically shut down. You can control the voltage at which it terminates.
For me, it was worth the expense.
