I am purchasing the CV Fab Intercooler kit and was wondering if the charge pipes replace where the BOV mounts? I’ve looked for installs on the 20 with the hot and cold side pipes with the BOV but I can’t find information. Also, is a resistor required for the turbosmart for the 2020?

BOV Mounting with CV Fab Charge Pipes:
CV Fab’s intercooler charge pipe kit for 2020 Ford Explorer ST does maintain the factory BOV mounting location. The kit is designed as a “direct bolt-on replacement” and specifically mentions that it fits “ONLY MODELS WITH A BUILD DATE PRIOR TO 09/21 THAT FEATURE THE FACTORY BPV ON THE HOT-SIDE PIPE.” This means the charge pipes don’t replace where the BOV mounts - they work with the existing factory BOV location.

CV Fab even offers BOV upgrade options with their kit, specifically mentioning you can “Upgrade the inefficient OEM BOV to the Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port VR13, or Kompact EM VR13 Plumb Back.”

Resistor Requirement for Turbosmart on 2020:
For the 2020 Explorer ST, Turbosmart BOVs are designed as “plug and play” installations that utilize the stock electronic connection. The Turbosmart Kompact EM (Electro-Mechanical) BOVs are specifically designed to work with the factory wiring without requiring additional resistors.

For your specific 2020 model, the CV Fab kit should work with the factory BOV location, and a Turbosmart BOV should install without requiring a resistor, though you could add one for extra peace of mind.
