I'm looking into exhaust options for my 25 ST. I know the CPe guys well from my Mazdaspeed background. I don't see their option discussed much.

Does anyone have any input on the CPe 2.75" option compared to a thermal 2.5"? I know 90% of people here will say thermal over anything but im looking for real input, not just fanboi responses.

Thanks

I haven’t heard of anyone running the CP-E exhaust. Definitely not fanboy response to say Thermal is a great option, it is a great exhaust.

From the amount of positive reviews, I don't doubt the Thermal 2.5" to be a good option. Just curious to hear opinions on differences.

I have the cpe exhaust and am probably only part of a small group that has it. I can say that it does sound good but mine has lots of surface rust and quality control has not been much of any help. Mine also came with an unfinished pipe and needed to be welded to midpipe for install. If I had another opportunity, I would have just gone thetmal 3”. Hope this helps

I did not go with the Thermal just because everyone else seemed to have one. Went with Borla type S with CF tips. Chose the type S because I leave for work at 4am. Sounds great, looks great, and I was able to install and attach to the OEM mid pipes without any issues.

That logic I can't understand. By that school of thought, I'd have to wonder what you are doing with an ST and on this forum.:ROFLMAO:

I bought it because I wanted another Explorer, Had a 2004 XLT 4x4 and wanted to upgrade to something with more power and better handling. Had to waite several years while Ford transitioned back to rear wheel drive and longitudinal mounted engines (kept hearing rumors about it). Its the only Explorer ST on a lot of approx. 300 vehicles at work, wanted something different from the multiple Mustangs, Camaros, and Mopar muscle cars on the lot.

They never really pushed that exhaust or advertised it much so it didn’t get a lot of action.

I went with the Thermal R&D 3.0", to me low range revs seem ricer'ish, but it really, really shines under load in WOT. I'm a fanboy now, but haven't heard any of the others so there's that.
