Has anyone had any success either painting or wrapping the Fender Flares, Rocker Panels & Front/Rear Lower Bumper Covers from the cheap textured black plastic to match Body Color??

The first quote I got was $4,500 because of the textured plastic needing so much labor and time to take each part off, sand, prime, paint, clear coat/ceramic coat and then putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. I definitely want them Body Color matched but certainly not paying that price. Any feedback? TIA

I had the ford dealer body shop take mine all apart sand it and spray it for me for 2800.00 cnd (2000.00 US) My guess would be it took them a good 25 hours give or take....

Dude @mruff1975... that does look sick!!! That's what I'm talking about! Looks like you dropped it as well... H&R 1.75" Springs ?? (I have them in the garage and putting them on next week)

This is my 3rd Explorer Sport/ST and that textured plastic just greys out and looks dull after some time. Plus with millions of soccer mom's (my wife being one of them 2016 Sport pictured) on the road with these...I wanted something that would stand out from the rest of the pack.

My Dealer's labor rate is $135/hr USD! The quote I got was from a shop by me called Eurotech Motorsports, their typical clients are German Luxury cars, McLaren's and all kinds of Exotics... They wanted $149/hr! Robbery!!

I gotta find Street Race Shop with an OCD Body guy with cheeper labor rates and will not let it leave the shop unless it's perfect...Tall order, but definitely not skipping this paint job.

Also going to Gloss Black Vinyl the Roof, C-Pillar and do Black Carbon Fiber Wrap on the center of the Hood similar to the Range Rover SVR (pictured). Plus I'm going to delete the Roof rails and put on the Police Interceptor Rails to get the profile more sleek. I'll post pics back to this thread when I get her back from the shop.

Thanks Fellas!

I am interested in just painting the fender trim and leaving all of the rest of the lower plastic black. Anyone do this? Pictures please.

I was thinking the exact same thing and got a rough quote from a local shop the other day for between $3-400 CAD, which I thought was very reasonable! It would give a similar look -- at least colour-wise -- to the wide body renders, which look very sharp in my opinion!

Last one shows how not to paint the wheel house trim up front.
