Air flow upgrades

Of course we all know of the intercooler upgrade, but I took out the bottleneck and cut the front of the 90 on the shroud and it opened a lot more real estate for air to come in.

So you thought putting a big “hole” in the high pressure area that forces air into that opening would somehow improve airflow?
It’s all sealed for a reason…to force air through the radiator stack and into the airbox. You unsealed it.
That’s a downgrade.

The big mouth snorkal does nothing, also stock intake is not a restriction until you get crazy with power.

Even more, how does installing a bigger IC affect the air flow over stock. Is the amount that is getting bypassed to the intake system going to make the difference that noticeable to where your car will not cool well or your a/c not work as should?

Even more, how does installing a bigger IC affect the air flow over stock. Is the amount that is getting bypassed to the intake system going to make the difference that noticeable to where your car will not cool well or your a/c not work as should?

An IC won’t affect that if the rest of the system is intact as designed. If there’s a giant hole that lets the pressurized air have an escape route…maybe not.

With 21+ years in in product development and engineering, one thing I have learned, you don't know until you try. Having multiple vehicles that make 700+ whp, you try things that others haven't. Understanding Delta P, and how the area before affects the pressurized zone at static vs speed, on how .25% on a 0 cost of parts and 30 minutes of time, can actually equal a few horsepower. Nothing that you can feel, but something that you can see on speed and time slips.

Nothing you just wrote changes the fact that what you did wasn’t an upgrade. We’ve been modding these cars since the day they came out…you didn’t reinvent the wheel here…you’re just the latest guy to think he knows more than the engineers about airflow through the front of this car. Seen plenty of people over the years think various versions of your idea are a good idea…none of them were. You reduced airflow to the places that matter most, that’s just the fact of the matter.

Actually adding the bigger IC reduces airflow, but that didn't stop you from doing it for the benefit. Doing what I did makes no difference in where airflow is "needed".

Your arguments make no sense. You modded the intake tube to let air escape what should be entering the intake. That’s just the reality. Yes it made a difference in where airflow is “needed.”

Next you will say that removing the shudders doesn't help airflow.

It literally makes no difference in the real world.

On no planet did you drop over half a second by cutting out part of your grill. To even insinuate that you did is laughable.

It wasn't "just" cutting the grill, it was adding the IC, and making the cut, good cool air. If you want come to coastal GA and drive it yourself. And I can put it like it was at SGMP for the first pass, then put it like the last pass. Also, in no way shape or form in the beginning of this post, did I say, cutting that was all I did.
