Love my 2022 ST but why are so many publication reviews trashing the Explorer?

Haven't had that issue at all ... what broke on ours is the side trim piece where the switches are for the power seat. Broke off at the front and hung there twice. Third time seems to be much better!! Ken

    New SYNC version is Available

Updated mine yesterday via USB ... no problems at all with the download or install. Just takes time. (I did the maps a few weeks ago.) I have found the last couple of OS installs look to be a two step affair, and the USB needs to remain in place until you get the screen that tells you to...

Love my 2022 ST but why are so many publication reviews trashing the Explorer?

Our 2020 ST, with a B Series VIN, has been mechanically sound and fun to drive on a daily basis. Yes, I've had a couple of trim complaints (driver's seat lower left side is on it's third replacement part), and a horrible experience with a SYNC update last year, but overall it's been a solid...

    Sync 3 map update

My rather interesting saga on this update ... When I went to the map website and entered my 2020 ST's VIN, it offered me another "free" update. I was happily surprised as I only expected one such update (which I had used a year ago for the NA 2.20 version). I downloaded the files, including a...

    History Repeats itself - GRRRRRRR!!

A few weeks after we took delivery of our ST in June 2020, I took it to the closer of the two Ford dealers in Tacoma (Lakewood Ford) for an oil change (I like to put a few miles on, then flush out the factory oil). Making a long story short, on 4 Aug 2020 the dealer's tech "forgot" to put the...

    On the beach ...

Went to Pacific Beach, Washington and enjoyed a rare nice day. As always, it was a great ride!! (I so wanted to try some "maneuvers" on the wide open, hard sand, beach ... my wife did not share my enthusiasm.) Cheers!! Ken

2022 ST arrived, do I really want it?

Well, all I can say is our 2020 with 28k miles, including 4 cross country trips to AZ and ID, has been virtually trouble free. The only serious QC issue I've had is the trim panel on the outside of the driver's seat breaking, and the most recent replacement carried a whole new part number so...

ST SUV Experience - Asheville - 5/26-5/27 - Write Up

Thanks so much. We did the Experience at Park City a year ago and loved every minute ... especially the autocross!! But all of the "experiences" were great!! My wife turned out to be one of the top shooters at the Olympic Biathlon shooting range ... who knew? This almost makes me want to...

So what other cars are in your stable?

Both of my beauties after their spring wash/polish/ceramic wax. Cheers!! Ken

Driver Lower Seat Panel - Outboard Side

Thought I'd bump this to the top ... with some possible good news. My 2020 ST driver's seat outboard trim failed in about a year of use. We took delivery in June of 2020, and it was first replaced in July 2021. It failed again a couple of weeks ago, and was replaced a few days ago, Jun 2022...

    Family Spring Cleaning

Finally able to finish my "spring cleaning" on both our '20 Explorer ST and our '17 Mustang convertible. Really looking forward to summer!! FYI - my process was to wash, clay bar, Griot's BOSS Surface Correction and two coats of Griot's Ceramic spray wax. Looks like I need to order...

    "Ford" trim replacement

Looks like I took a rock that chipped/cracked my "Ford" emblem on the front grill of our 2020 ST. I was wondering if replacing it is something I could do. I know some folks have changed it out for black emblems and so on ... is it pretty easy to do? I'll prolly use a replacement part as...

I continue to be impressed ...

Just returned from our second round trip to/from Arizona since we acquired our 2020 ST in June 2020, and it continues to perform just about perfectly. Total trip was 3,300 miles and my hand calculated MPG was virtually identical to the computer's guess. About the only time it dropped was in...

    Tough choice ...

Need to run to Walgreen's to drop a package ... which way to go? Although it'll take a few minutes to clear off the snow ... I think the ST will get the call!! Happy New Year y'all!! Ken

    A new garage mate ...

My lovely wife OK'd an addition to our garage. Weather's been crappy so it'll sit in the garage for a while, but it should be a ton of fun in the Spring/Summer!! The ST still impresses me day in and day out. What a great vehicle!! It's new stable mate is a '17 EcoBoost Premium convertible...

Help with Troubleshooting the Phone Charger

So far, no. The more I play with this, the more it seems it's a phone issue, not really the mat. I also have occasional issues with my 12 on a mat at home as well, which is probably another indicator that it's a phone issue with the 12. Ken

SYNC Build 21194 Is Released by Ford

Pulled the USB version from Ford as I've had my auto-update/wifi turned off to prevent any of the messed up updates after I rolled back, did a master reset ... just to start with a clean slate ... and the update went well. Did another Master Reset after finishing .... just to clean out any bits...

Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

I also found 21194 is now available on the Ford owner site for download & install vis USB. I'll take my pirate hat off (although it's been running well for several weeks), and I think I'll do a Master Reset before going legit. Then another Master Rest ... re-register everything, turn the...

Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

Nope ... butI keep an old Windows Surface tablet around for just such situations!! Luckily the Cyanlab software doesn't need a lot of resources. My Surface is an Intel Atom with 4GB RAM ... and it worked perfectly!! Ken

    Exhaust Recall?

Saw this on CarFax after receiving an email "warning". I checked the NTSB site and there's no mention, and when I plugged my VIN into the recall checker on the Ford Owner site it came up indicated "None." Anyone familiar with this? I'm curious because I've been noticing a very faint...
