    2020 Explorer ST

Confirmed the battery is the original and confirmed voltage at ABS module is sagging to 9.8v during startup load. Couldn’t replicate the issue but regardless time for a new battery.

    10r60 fluid level

How did you verify the trans temp? If you used a scan tool and read 195+f then yes, Definitely add more. But it took me almost 20 whole minutes of decently spirited driving to get it up to 195f. Start with half quart and check again. Up to the 2.5 mark is preferred. Also your fluid looks brown...

    2020 Explorer ST

I agree. I have started saving off all the DTCs from forscan just to have more clues and maybe help others out if it does end up just being the battery. But i’m going to go pick up a battery now that i’m seeing all the other gremlins that come up with an old battery. I don’t want to wait until...

    6 Faults and AWD Module

I’ve been looking all over, this is very likely my issue. I’m going to look into doing this in the next week

    2020 Explorer ST

The disabled services don’t bother me much. And I have a dash cam with parking mode so it will record for roughly 3 days until it hits the voltage cutoff that I set. It has never been an issue in the past but lately after we start up the car and put it in drive or reverse, the brakes are...

    Fault messages

I’m not the original poster but I think I have the same issue going on. I have load tested my battery 3 times at different places and it tests OK. But I think its the original 5yo battery. I might just replace it and see if it helps. After clearing these codes they didn’t come back. But i have...

Is this the same message? I got this code today

    Charging system or battery?

I’ve been getting lots of “lost communication with module xyz” DTCs and random software glitches. Usually always on startup when the battery is stressed. But the car starts and runs fine every time. I think battery is original 5yo. You think it’s a problem? I have had it load tested 3 times at...

    2020 Explorer ST

When your battery was going out, what symptoms did you have? Lately we have been getting a lot of codes for random communication loss between modules and invalid signals. Almost always on startup. The battery seems to test in decent health at Oreilly’s and at Ford. Car starts right up with no...

Transmission Fluid Change - Should I or wait?

Just did mine myself at 65k. I used 4 ramps, reversed up so the ramp wasn’t in my way. Harbor freight fluid extractor/dispenser and kevlar gloves. Trans shifts much smoother now and the fluid that came out was still red but it was pretty brown. I think it took right at about 6 qts with a new...

SOLVED: Electrical Issues - Lost Communications and Invalid Data Received

EDIT: My guide for the repair on the AWD module ground are here: https://www.explorerst.org/threads/guide-fixing-awd-module-ground.9634/ Occasionally our 2020 is having somewhat random electrical issues. (Our battery is OEM so I’m considering just replacing it but it keeps testing in good...

Lol good news is after it cracks loose it will come off easy with your fingers.

    10r60 fluid level

that’s the clearance when on 4 ramps. It is really easy to work under there. i reverse up because the ramp would have been in the way of where I needed to be to get the trans plug out. I set the ramps up on a rug i use in the garage the first time and the second time i did it right on the...

    10r60 fluid level

They are rhyno ramps from oreilly’s. The clearance was really good. I put the ramps behind the wheels and reversed up. It felt very sketchy but in reality i dont think it is. Levels the car great. I should add the transmission was fully warmed up when i drove it with the cap off. The level would...

    10r60 fluid level

Thankfully the dealership topped it off before i bought it so it has been cracked open already. I broke it loose pretty easy with the car cold. It doesn’t need to be very tight, just 30ft lbs. no need to remove anything. And in case you are wondering, with the cap and dipstick out i was able to...

Actually does anyone know where to get the OEM gasket? I couldn’t find it online and the cheap amazon ones are rubber. I Don’t trust them at all

    10r60 fluid level

I just checked my gasket closely and wiped it clean with my finger. Ford says it’s reusable. Some people say you need to replace it but I reused it and have been under the car multiple times to check and it is still bone dry. I think it is really important to torque the pans accurately with the...

    10r60 fluid level

Yea that’s actually the most annoying thing why do they need so many threads LOL. I used harbor freight kevlar gloves worked amazing

    10r60 fluid level

I don’t see any way the dipstick will snake down to the 10r60 plug location. There’s basically enough clearance for 2 fingers around it and above it is the floor pan. I would save yourself the trouble and look under there first. I circled the spot there. You can see floorpan directly above it.
