    Hello All...

Welcome to the forum! I’ll include a link to my modding guide, it details all the aftermarket parts for our vehicles: https://www.explorerst.org/threads/explorer-st-modding-101-guide.7324/

    4WD or AWD?

Really? I thought with the logic presented by @Cruising68 every vehicle that ever was called AWD is 4wd.

    4WD or AWD?

I don’t understand, how are there never more than two wheels driving the car at any given time? Most of the time power is being sent to all 4 the wheels.

    4WD or AWD?

I meant to mention actuators too. I know what AWD stands for, and the Explorers are AWD with a FWD disconnect.

    Job 1 v job 2? What’s the difference?

It’s just a generic QC statement. Not saying it’s absolutely horrible, just little things that might be improved. Seems like every automaker has problems with quality these days.

    BeyondEOD's ST Build Thread

Do not use the Steeda pinion bushings. They are horrible, do nothing, and have a high probability of breaking. Otherwise than that everything will do great, and improve performance. Shouldn’t add a whole lot of NVH.

    4WD or AWD?

I’d have to disagree. What you explained above, to me is AWD. If it disconnects automatically and drives without any user input and uses clutches to disconnect or distribute power, it’s AWD. With the argument you’re using above, that means every Subaru crossover, or similar vehicle is 4wd.

    Job 1 v job 2? What’s the difference?

Usually the differences in jobs are minor differences like Auto Start Stop delete or similar. Maybe some quality control changes.

    Clunk in front end

Both of my STs, the old A-Build 2020 and my current 2022, have that odd clunking at low speeds. Even the 2024 XLT rental car I had was doing it. Seems like a common problem.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the buy. Just keep current on oil changes every 5k miles and check the tranny fluid (they are notoriously underfilled on these vehicles).

Low end valve train, knocking noise

Agreed. Probably the nosiest engine I’ve owned.

2023 Rear Lift Gate - Latch Jammed Closed

This has been a huge conversation piece, as far as we know there is no manual release for the tailgate. Big design miss IMO.

    Looking at two ST's: 2021 vs 2023

How do they compare options wise? Also, I’d ask them to see if it is the 1 or 2 bolt rear subframes on both. Thatd be a huge factor to me.

    Tires tracking

On our roads, which are really bad, I notice some tram lining, but it isn’t horrible. Just slightly noticeable.

    Bad Caliper?

From the limited info, I’m guessing it’s normal and just because of the rains.

    Extended warranty ?

Rentals are a big part and lights are even bigger. All built in sealed units on our cars, so if the lights go out you have to replace the whole assembly.
