I'd recommend Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. They truly are the best A/S Performance, and we have them on our 662 HP GT500, and it puts power down amazing.

I have no experience with them, but I did a LOT of research, and Bridgestone DM-V2 Blizzaks are the best.

Did you try wax or any specific rim cleaner?

The setting eight before auto is parking lights, which are DRLs. The auto setting keeps DRLs on during daylight (as their name suggests) and headlights on when needed.
