Apple or Android, which do you use?

Damn, I'm sorry - I didn't even read the thread for questions... brewjaz To use an android and its apps you need Android Apps, for iPhone, you need Apple Car Play. Download whichever and install. Then get the google apps. But if you're really that paranoid, you're in the wrong car and...

Apple or Android, which do you use?

Android. The size allotted to the Android apps is pathetic! I need full-screen (or at least 1/2) for Google Maps.

Like the jodie foster movie "contact"

Mine is smooth as my wife's.... And I hate vibrations and rattles. I have none. I think I would try a different dealer. Then go to BBB. PJ

    1,000 mile review

I'm over 4,000 mi. and you'all didn't miss a point. My memory tells me I was closer to the 8" display in my 2017 Escape, because the NAV map seemed easily readable. For me, it's much harder to read the map in the ST. PJ

    License Plate LED Light

Just installed mine. Cold, white light. My Star White looks even more formal. I'm a vet and chose the Air Force seal. The white & black looks police-like and the "unusual" plates make 'em tap the brakes! ...heh....heh... Tip: Have the lights on when you go to insert the polarized LED's...

How many people warm up their Explorer ST before driving?

In Massachusetts, unless I know the interior of my ST is close to my liking, I remote start. If I remember, it's usually less than 10 min.

    Fuel Grade

I'm not looking for an argument, guys. Normally, I run the 93, but I have a 3,000 mi. trip, pulling 5,600 lbs. At 65 mph., she gets 7+ mpg. Call it 8, and that's 375 gal @ $0.40 per = $150. Since there's zero appreciable difference in MPG, and it will not hurt the mechanics, I'll run 87 on...

    Fuel Grade

OK, I hear ya! But those were 2015 and '16's. Could the ECU recognize 87 vs 93 and tune itself differently? I'm flushing mine with 93. When empty, I'll fill it with 93 and reset Trip 1, then run it for a few tankfuls....

    Fuel Grade

I'm currently @ 4,00 mi and without a stopwatch, I can't really tell the difference in performance. Sure, if I knew I wanted max hp, I'd be on 93 octane. But...has anybody run tests on which octane produces the best MPG? Or is there even a difference?

    Turning radius

I came out of Escapes which turn so tight they almost bite themselves in the ass..... Like FordHousePBX, I was sure I'd not be happy with the ST's turning radius. In fact, I was overjoyed!!! Not quite Escape-tight, but damn closer than I thought possible. It's like when you turn 3 clicks to...

    Capless fuel tank issues?

It's going to depend on the handle's sensor. See that little pipe built into the nozzle; once gas blocks the air going in there, the handle will "break". When the pump's nozzle in in any position - if the pump's flow pressure is high enough to cause back-splash to the sensor, it will "break"...

What did your Ford Explorer ST replace?

After leasing '13, '14, '17 Escapes, all 2.0 EcoBoost Titanium which I think is one of the BEST driving SUV's, I turned 70. Having had some really hot sh*t when I was young & foolish (i.e. '80 Vette w/ 9# Turbo, 97 octane, 104+ octane booster, and some alcohol. and a stock '65 365 GTC Daytona...

    Average MPG

4,000 miles, 16.5 avg. Mixed driving. 143 must be governed. When I backed out at 135 [wind on bridge] she was still climbing with a purpose. Pulling 5600 lb trailer = 7.0 mpg @70 mph, 10.0 mpg @ 55. And it pulls it like there was nothing there! How about you 'all other Star White owners -...

    Happy Retired ST Owner

I'm 70, retired IT Director for NASA Space Shuttle Program, with my first Explorer. I've owned and driven everything from a 1937 6,000 lb. 12-cyl. RR, to a 1980 Corvette w/ 9# turbo, 550 HP 15-speed Peterbilts, V-Twin motorcycles, and even a unicycle. I just came off my 3rd leased Escape...
