I read somewhere that connecting the negative directly to the battery takes some part of the vehicle’s monitoring out of the equation and isn’t the preferred method.

For any of you that have hardwired a trickle charger, could you post photos of where you made the two connections?

I also recently bought the Noco Genius 1. Because the ST isn’t driven often and mostly they’re relatively short trips, the battery doesn’t remain fully charged and the vehicle hibernates. I like the idea of maintaining the battery with only a 1 amp charge. So far, the Genius 1 is working...

I have the Noco GB40. Haven’t had to use it yet but the reviews convinced me it’ll get the job done. During Amazon events, it can be bought for around $60 to $65.

On the roundtrip that resulted in 26.1 (Central NC to the beach in SC), I was fortunate enough to find a route that was downhill both ways. :cool:

Here’s my answer… 1. Mine is stock and will remain that way. 2. My hard driving days are behind me (I’ve done ~175mph on a foreign road). 3. With rare exception, I drive in Eco because I’m a miser. So, leaving out 25% of the bolts holding the rear end onto my premium-priced high performance...

Best I’ve noted was 26.1 on the dash. That was 274 miles of mixed highway and some cities with a couple stops. All in Eco on 87.

Why didn’t you qualify?

I found some magnetic usb c adapters on Amazon. I have one on the phone charger cable and another on the cable in the Explorer. There is a mating plug stuck into the phone’s usb port. This setup literally makes it a snap to connect/disconnect the phone.

The winner of our group was .607 faster than her husband, who was much faster than I. But I didn’t clip any cones. :cool:

I felt like I was robbed. My fastest time wasn’t recorded because of a malfunction of their equipment. I didn’t get an extra run to compensate. I came in second and tried to file an official protest. The winning driver was pregnant so she had a copilot. :ROFLMAO:

That would surely be their argument. Mine counter would be, “If normal use was the issue, why did Ford equip a limited series of Explorers with 33% more horsepower and torque; selling them for a higher price? Didn’t they fully expect “normal use” for the more powerful vehicles to be different?”

With permission of the officers (who had no idea about the impending recall), I crawled under three PIs. They were all 3 bolt.
