    Tires

If someone posts nonsense on the internet- especially to a group of people with pertinent knowledge- they better grow a thick skin or stop revealing their ignorance. A few extra lbs of pressure isn't a big deal. In fact a slight increase in pressure (regardless of some comments on this thread)...

    Smoking on startup after sitting

The most logical conclusion is that it wasn't the engine that was causing the problem. But let's diagnose it in a rational manner. We observe oil burning on startup. First check is to make sure it's actually oil other than just condensation from the exhaust. If we can determine it is in fact...

18o t stat. Good or bad?

As I wrote before, and will again until it penetrates; changing the thermostat to lower values does not equate to good outcomes. These discussions are always about how lowering the engine temperature achieves more HP through...what...exactly? Please give me some logical, reasonable...

18o t stat. Good or bad?

While I'm not a fan at all of using low temp thermostats as I wrote above, I'm also pretty sure that a 12 degree change in thermostat doesn't require a "tune". Let alone having the tuner tell me that I need to return to the stock thermo and need another "tune". Who is your tuner?

18o t stat. Good or bad?

Same goes for any cooler thermostat- see here: https://www.explorerst.org/threads/spd-170-thermostat-install-worth-it.3906/post-50773

    2022 Ford Explorer Platinum ST

I'm suggesting that based on what I've seen from certain dyno runs you wouldn't have to modify the engine to achieve higher RPMS. And yes, higher flowing turbos are a necessity for the power you want to run. You're always free to run ethanol or mixtures- bear in mind that you need a lot more...

    2022 Ford Explorer Platinum ST

I'm following your build closely. Sorry about the paint problems, but I'd agree with @UNBROKEN it didn't look kosher from the first. Hopefully they'll get it right. But....since you ask for "ideas/suggestions", in terms of the engine mods, I think I'd look at that last. The trick is to...

    Tuned in Sport Mode Only?

Can't do a tune for sport mode only, but a tune by itself (done correctly) won't impact MPG or driveability. If you're not putting your foot in it or the tune doesn't drastically affect throttle response there's nothing to be concerned with.

QUESTION: Who is using/has used a 3 bolt at the drag strip?

There is both a 3 bolt and a 4 bolt differential cover. If you have a three-bolt cover you're out of luck. The 4 bolt cover is set up for the threaded bolt insert. The three bolt subframe however does not have the proper surround for the RH isolator/bushing and would require fabrication to fit...

POLL: OEM 20" or 21" Wheels

I would think most people who are into performance bought the street pack for the brake package- which happened to come with the 21"s. Look at the number of people who are putting more expensive wheels on- they generally have the 21s. The 20" crowd are buying the used 21"s. For me, it was pure...

    Thermal R&D 3in

I was probably overly dismissive of your purchase of a dual 3" exhaust system, mea culpa. If you're buying to make a nice noise, that's up to you. But the stock exhaust is not a joke. It is completely capable of flowing everything the stock turbos can handle and probably some to spare. I'm...

    Thermal R&D 3in

Can't wait for first "butt dyno" post of 40+ hp. Probably another 3-4 mpg as well.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Just an official announcement to all of you loyal posters. Since we're now on the 99th different rear axle thread, we've decided to change the name of this website from explorerst.org to ExplorerAxleFailure.com. Because of the number of posts on the only other subject that attracts posts...

Thoughts on CRC Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner

ST engine is DI only. That's why you see a lot of people installing catch cans.

    A fast Ford Explorer ST

Looks like the new turbos have been bolted on. Haven't seen anyone post this yet. Interesting to see the RPM at over 7K RPM with (supposedly) stock internals!
