Am I the only one who hates the Adaptive Cruise?

These systems are set to a minimum distance that they can avoid a collision. Ford isn't stupid, they make sure that the system provides enough room for a panic stop so you don't use it, rear end someone, and then everyone sues them. You probably follow too closely if you want to be THAT much...

How can I carry 3 kayaks with no roof rails?

Crossmembers can be done differently, instead of a bunch of little Crossmembers, you can do a smaller number of larger ones. There's a photo somewhere comparing the Crossmembers on the moonroof vs non moonroof explorers. While yes, the non moonroof cars have a few more smaller Crossmembers where...

How can I carry 3 kayaks with no roof rails?

Possibly, or the extra weight if the moonroof is already factored in to their top loading calculations. Basically the extra weight up top from the moonroof already is included in the "we thi k the vehicle won't roll over with this much weight on it". Of note, that applies to all explorers. So...

How can I carry 3 kayaks with no roof rails?

So this whole thing got me curious, so I did some researching. It appears that most of the time, the weight limit is from the crossbars. They build them semi weak because they've specified a weight limit that is overall low, out of concern for top loading. If you look at what people do on...

How can I carry 3 kayaks with no roof rails?

Stick em out the back? You can get one of those hitch mounted extenders if you need some room inside. People usually use them with trucks so I dunno that running around with the hatch open is your cup of tea but it's an option. IIf the factory rails only hold 75 pounds I'd get a Thule system...

    E-15 Gasoline?

Absolutely but stop thinking about things logically and focus on what they want you to. Ethanol has lower energy content than gasoline. The reason people run e85 is that lower energy content is less likely to detonate, allowing more timing, etc. This also allows you to dump more fuel in...

    2023 Kia Telluride X-Pro

I feel that. When we drove the explorer we tested a 2.3t first. We drove it, and rhen found out there was an st that the order was backed out on we could drive. I asked if she wanted to drive the v6 version and she said "nah, this one is plenty, I don't need more power". I'm still confused by...

    2023 Kia Telluride X-Pro

Demand is. A itch, but yeah, they're down 100hp from the explorer sport. Kia needs the turbo 3.3 in the Telluride bad.

2022 Explorer ST 2nd Row Cup Holder Console Between Captain Chairs

It'd sound fine from the drivers seat. Maybe a little wonky in the back.

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

The aviator reserve is only about 100 pounds heavier than the explorer st. I suspect there's more context to those numbers than you're taking into account. Air Temps, altitude, tires, something like that. 100 pounds won't make THAT big of a difference in 0 to 60.

The Genesis SUVs are RWD based platforms.

    2023 Kia Telluride X-Pro

Our local dealers were willing to do msrp on ordered models. Unfortunately, 5k towing just didn't cut it. They're super nice inside though, leaps and bounds above the competition. The kia and Hyundai are like, as nice or nicer than the Lincoln equivalents. It's insane how nice they are. The...

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

Honestly, if the ST had come with 450 to 500hp and the tougher transmission to increase towing rating, yeah there'd be one parked in the driveway. Even if that msrp was 62 to 65k vs 58k.

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

Depends on perspective. Some people will pay for better interiors and the like. That's why some people buy a Lincoln vs a Ford. Ford's struggles with poor quality on this gen explorer are well known and documented. I imagine when they do a mid cycle refresh that should vastly improve it.

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

I think that's reasonable, and part of my issue. I want an srt competitor, the RT is fine but the SRT is better. Ford could have given us that for virtually no money. That said, you gloss over the benefits of Durango pretty quickly. For people like me, that towing difference is a BIG...

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

I'm far from. An Ecoboost expert, but 5 star's E50 tune on a stock 3.5.does 550 wheel hp. Stock intake, stock exhaust, stock IC. That said, ethanol blends are of no interest to me, that's way too much hassle to fill up. E85 is at least a semi commonly available fuel, but I'm not gonna mix...

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

I'm interested in this too. I would think if that was the case they'd have dropped the 3.5L entirely and used the 3.0 in the f150. Especially in the higher trims at least.

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

I think the exhaust note is part of.it, and the way it pulls. The 6.4s felt more like stump pullers that got angry at higher revs, the ST felt much more, I dunno, smooth? It felt more like a sports suv than a muscle suv. My tbss feels like a muscle suv, it's chassis isn't that great and it's...

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

I get average 12mpg in my tbss, so I'm not that worried about it, lol. I looked at them. In 18 and 19 and dealers were doing "crazy" deals on them. There was a dealer in Kernersville that really had great pricing.
