    Ford sells around 200K Explorers a year. I'm not sure 86 is a statistically relevant sample. They certainly wouldn't be offering a recall for one failure.

    There is a tsb on a broken bolt and the solution is to replace with the 4 bolt subframe.......only if it breaks,

    Yes and that is really the crux of the issue with me. They designed the higher HP drivetrain with the two bolt subframe. What was the true reason they switched to one? Did they run out of 2 bolt frames and just say F it put them on so we can keep building? Or did they go through engineering...

    Just ordered a set for my 2 post lift. Got a lot of under car work to do including springs, sway bar, exhaust, downpipes, rear cross member. Thanks for all the info in this thread.
