Explorer ST 1/4 Mile Time Slips

Wow, no prep. Everyone racing there must have been pretty ticked off.

    Post your Dragy times.

So there we go, the difference between a set of OEM 20's vs 21's (wheels and tires) is 16 lbs. Actually, not that great. But there's still the benefit of less unsprung rotational mass rotational to consider too.

We need to do a "Bone Stock 20 inch vs. 21 inch Dragy" thread to see how much quicker the ST is with the smaller wheels/tires combo. Unfortunately, every published road test is with the 21's.

You're having traction problems with a bone stock ST? Someone probably leaked fluid on the track ...

    Oil change schedule

What the OLM ("oil life monitor") tells you or sooner is just fine. Zero penalty for earlier oil changes (except of course for cash spent). My dealer specifically recommends 5,000 mile intervals and FORD's warranty department will have absolutely no issue with that.

Just got a ST last week

Well, think of it this way: 95% of ST's seem to have the 21", so we have the rare model ST replacing the 4 OEM 20" tires will cost you $1,105 versus $1,456 for the OEM 21"

I'm surprised nobody has answered you yet! DA (Density Altitude) can greatly effect performance. Increased air temp, lower barometric pressure and higher humidity all have a detrimental effect on acceleration numbers. Go to this website, plug in a few variables, and watch how much the ET/MPH...

I read the comments for ridered74's vid, none of them are out of whack. Just normal questions/comments.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

My comment wasn't adressing "falisafes" in general, it was about the need for a failsafe on a part of which the actual cause of the problem has not been addressed.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

One thing stands out, none of this makes any sense. Highly tuned cars, no problems. Highly tuned cars, some with problems. Stock vehicles, no problems. Stock vehicles, blown parts. Broken parts, a snapped bolt. Broken parts, everything under the sun being replaced. There's no way to figure out...

Dragy 10Hz, RaceBox 10Hz or RaceBox Mini 25Hz?

Okay, so your bone stock time is the one to beat! People are probably wondering why I'm into doing runs with a 100% stock ST. I used to mod cars, but now I'm into seeing if I can match or beat published test results. I did this at the drag strip with my Stinger GT AWD ([email protected] mph), my...

Dragy 10Hz, RaceBox 10Hz or RaceBox Mini 25Hz?

Okay, got a quarter mile run in ... 100% bone stock Power brake launch 1/2 tank 93 oct Road starting curving L after I passed 60 mph (hard to find a straight road in my area that's level and a 1/4 mile long) Tools/etc removed (out of curiosity I weighed everything and it was 41.4 lbs, the...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Sorry to hear that. But then I see all these 2020 guys with tunes making 500-550 hp with no problems? I know it's of no consolation to you, but the data still shows few if any people snapping their bolts. Hmm ...

Anyone here weigh the OEM 20" wheel vs. the OEM 21" wheel? Has to be a similar difference in weight.

    FORD PERFOMANCE DOOR SILL REPLACEMENT?

I just called the dealer's Parts Dept. They said the Ford Performance sill plate is part of that entire trim piece and costs $191.00 EACH and has to be ordered (4-5 days). They said if I want it installed through the dealer's Body Shop I'd have to stop by and they would write me an estimate...

    FORD PERFOMANCE DOOR SILL REPLACEMENT?

Very interesting you post this, as somehow my driver's side Ford Performance door sill plate has a gash across it. I was thinking I need to call the dealer's Parts Department to replace it. Will get back to you ...

    QUESTION: Carbon Build Up

If people use Top Tier fuel, then the chances of getting excessive carbon buildup will probably be greatly reduced. FYI: The ST's tail pipe tips will never get sooty, as the exhaust actually exits out of holes facing the ground just before the tips.
