Vibration when in Reverse and lurch when put into drive

Could be trans or motor mounts. This weekend, I noticed that when stopped at the stoplight, the steering wheel has very noticeable vibration (that wasn't there before). Has not resulted in driveability issues but I suspect the motor mounts may be on thier way out. Kind of disappointing with a...

Sync 3 update and connectivity issues.

Unfortunately, when you are really out of memory, the APIM won't update. Back when this was happening, people used to do a master reset right before sticking the upgrade USB in. If Master reset hangs, try three soft resets (PWR + FFD) and immediately stick in the USB upgrade. The 23188 should...

    ForScan help

That is a great gift and he will get a lot of use out of it. However, as a gift, I wiuld cincentrate on just the OBD2 dongle that you need to connect to your car. I would recommend the OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth dongle. There is a cheaper wired version, but the Bluetooth version is so small and...

25 ST Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power

I remember reading that the 2.3L had a bunch of revised parts. This article seems to say it is "all new". https://fordauthority.com/2024/07/2025-ford-explorer-uses-s650-mustangs-all-new-2-3l-ecoboost/ It's anyone's guess what revisions were made with the 3.0L. For instance, the passenger side...

    Driving Mode Memory Module

Update: i have to report that on two occasions, the mode was not what i had last used. Not sure what the circumstances are that made it fail. Given the number of times i have started the car in the past few days, it's about 5-10% of the time.

    To extend warranty or not

2022 is a reliable year. if it’s been good to you, i’d bag the extended warranty.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

There ARE angled braces from the strut towers to the center of the firewall. The strut bar completes the triangulation which geometrically makes it very stiff if your strut bar is likewise stiff. To me, looking at the firewall and support structures, there is a lot of weight-saving trade-offs...

25 ST Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power

Do yourself a favor and get a code reader. Preferrably one recommended by Forscan, like OBDLink MX+ bluetooth dongle.

    Front door speaker replacement question

You need to reread what I wrote that you initially responded to. You are not getting low bass by replacing the 6x9 in the stock system. Like I said, I replaced with midbass, midrange and tweeter. There is not significant low bass and that shouldn't be the expectation with a stock speaker swap...

    Front door speaker replacement question

I'm saying if you are just replacing the stock speakers, you aren't going to find much that will produce low bass with just a driver replacement. The 6x9 is a midrange driver. I'm not even sure the stock system passes low frequency to that driver.

..with replacement of the stock speakers using the stock system.

    Front door speaker replacement question

I did the front doors and posted in the other forum. For a budget install, I am very impressed with the sound quality with a powered sub filling out the low end. As mentioned, the doors do not have any appreciable low bass and that certainly should not be a goal. I used Powerbass 6x9 drop in...

Considering 2025 ST but concerned with reliability

Past the factory warranty, I'd much rather have an ST than X3 M. In theory, the 2025's should be pretty reliable, having benefitted from all the changes they've made the past 5 years. It also has the magically combo of comfort and performance that few 3 row SUVs have, that is also relatively...

How many people have had driver side heated seat issues?

Swapped the heating pad a year ago... probably at 85k miles. Not too hard and the heating pads are cheap.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Here is a salvage pic with all the guts removed. It's all guesswork and opinion whether a brace between the strut towers could possibly help or is completely cosmetic. I personally think it would help and certainly wouldn't hurt.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Where are the facts? It's all guesswork! Sure the firewall is close but how stiff is it really? it's a sheet of steel. I'd say a stiff strut brace can't hurt.... it's just not a mod you can definitely say made a huge difference--and that's true for most cars.

I appreciate you finding the item! And it is half the price of when you first posted! Can't beat that. FYI, to find the plug, look at their video clip. It's next to the brake pedal.

    Winter Rims

Rims need to be at least 70.5 bore size. Larger than that you can use hubcentric rings. You CANNOT use rims that have a smaller hub bore size, like the 5th gen explorer rims.
