To unsnap the window are you talking about those two pull tabs that are attached to the white pieces on the window? If so I can get both to move but the track assembly won't budge and I have all the plastic screws loose.

If you take care of it and do regular maintenance it will last as long as the manufacturer claims assuming they are a reputable company. Get the right kind of soap and you should be fine, some have "boosters" that help keep the hydrophobics working. I have been using p&s bead maker on my car...

Your right and its way more of a PITA than a dip stick under the hood, I do not see many people doing that fluid check at home while the vehicle is running......
