    Sport vs Eco mode (mpg)

I do technical posts (for the most part), and looking at my earlier post, it probably came across as more caustic than it needed to be. So, I'll try to be nicer as I put out information! With that in mind, a turbocharger does NOT increase engine efficiency per se. For the content of this...

    Smoking on startup after sitting

I don't know where those part numbers are from, but I think they are misprints. Because here are pics of ST turbos. Notice the difference in the compressor housings, the placement of the wastegates, etc. Also, if you zoom in you'll see that the one compressor housing is numbered 5487 while...

    Smoking on startup after sitting

Are you sure that's true? It doesn't seem likely given the pics I've seen which show different compressor castings.

    Sport vs Eco mode (mpg)

And you base this on what theory? Really, I'm not trying to single you out, but you have no idea what you're talking about. When ascending a hill, the load increases. As load increases, so does the exhaust cycle pressure- that increase in pressure causes an increase in turbine speed. To...

    Sport vs Eco mode (mpg)

This is what you wrote. It's nonsense. Ummm, yes, but what does that have to do with gas mileage?

    Smoking on startup after sitting

This is so sad....and it's because of the incentive/disincentive of warranty claims vs dealership profit. The 2.7 nanos (on which the 3.0 is based) had some problems with valve spring retainers. IMHO, most of these "start-up" oiling problems with the ST are with turbo seals, but due to he 2.7...

    Sport vs Eco mode (mpg)

I don't know where you heard this (or why you'd post it) because it is absolutely not true as it pertains to MPG. In fact, it's so misinformed that it almost pains me to have to chime in on this! Gas mileage is directly related to BSFC- brake specfic fuel consumption- which is the amount fuel...

    Valvetronic Exhaust

Let's see: this design decreases the exhaust velocity by at least half. Increases in volume decrease velocity and increase pressure. It probably triples the surface area which lowers the heat retention...also decreasing the velocity. So it's a no-go from a performance perspective. But, it looks...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Ford sold somewhere around 40k STs since '20. There are 5600 members on this site, many of who don't even own an ST, probably 3K who have maybe posted here a couple of times and aren't even slightly active. And still, CFG (you know who I'm talking about) still thinks his polls are...

Anyone else find the GPS worthless?

My previous ride was a 2012 Jaguar XF supercharged. The GPS system wasn't laggy, it was glacial- as in unusable. Each part of an address accessed its hard drive to try to predict your input. Say you want 1143 Joe Blow ave. Type the first "1", and after a 5 second pause while it accessed its...

Newbie winter tire & wheel combination question

If you're really concerned about winter driving, it's simple. Buy some good snow tires. They make more difference than anything else you can do. Depending on your budget, ideally pick up a set of cheap wheels and mount the snows on them to save your good (summer) wheels and tires. Selecting...

    Hard launch transmission disengages

If this were a manual transmission car, everyone would immediately diagnose it as power-related clutch slip. I am not an expert on the 10R series transmissions, but based on my own observation on how good they are in Eco and Normal modes of off acceleration coasting- they must have engineered...

    Towing w/ the ST

Does the window sticker also show the 52T option? That's the option for the class IV tow package.

    Bad MPG

According to every experience I've read on this site relating to disabling ASS through ForScan, it cannot be done permanently. It can be disabled via a tuner through the ECU, or an add-on "eliminator" circuit. It seems that the coding for it is in the ECU, not the other body control modules...

    Hard launch transmission disengages

That would be my first educated guess. I'm not convinced of a driveline failure, since according to your posts, it retains driveability and function after it happens. And, with it only happening when the temp is low equating to more torque, it seems a reasonable possibility.

    Hard launch transmission disengages

I'm not sure the OP isn't possibly correct in thinking it's a torque-related issue. He should probably ask @ZFGracing about it. Certain cars I've seen tuned- particularly VAG platforms- do employ torque sensing mechanisms in the driveline with the ECU taking preventive measures to forestall...

Low speed roar throughout the cabin.

Have y'all considered tire noise? Outside of better insulation in the panels, not much to be done.
