Catch Can and Oil Change Interval Question

Oil testing is not expensive, I used to all the time. Just check out bob is the oil guy.

    October Software Update Installed Today

There are so many electronics in these things now. Both good and bad for the owners. I love it, but I also bought the 60k bumper to bumper.

    2020 Explorer ST

Personal experience and opinion. When the app starts saying it's disabling features to save the battery, make financial plans, and grab a new AGM when you can. Go to a reputable dealer in town that changes it for free too! I see it may not have fixed the other issues, but I have tested the...

Catch Can and Oil Change Interval Question

Just a testament that many of us overkill things. I've seen cars that were well-maintained blow out early, and abused cars rock. I know I'm probably overdoing it at 5k OCIs on ecoboosts, but it's just a thing for me. I used to use Techron religiously, now I make sure I buy from the right...

2025 ST . 1st oil change at 1k miles. What oil and filter do you all recommend?

Any full syn leading brand is fine, mainly if you stick to 5k intervals. My local shop charges about $80 and does a full syn-valvoline, uses a good brand of filter (I can't remember the shelf name, but I looked them up and they build other good filters), and includes tire rotation. My ecoboosts...

2021 ST, One of the best vehicles I have owned

I've had 10 Fords before this 2025, and I only have 1k miles on it. It is for sure, other than my 2019 PP2 Mustang, one of my favorite cars ever. Plenty fast, and I haven't tuned (yet). Added a Thermal 2.5", sounds great. And the creature comforts and seats are a win. Looks nice too.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Just picked it up and drove it back. Black tips match so much better. Cold start is nice and sounds good when given a little more juice. Turbo sound is definitely up. The best part is, at cruise on 85 and 80, it's quiet. Maybe a hair of rumble on a hill, but other than that, just what I hoped...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Thermal 2.5" with black tips. I dropped it off an hour ago, and they are already done. I've used this shop for 20+ years, and when he called, the guy said he was surprised that, for a 6-cylinder, it actually has a really great sound—picking up at lunch. I'll be glad for those dinky chrome tips...

Is the factory B&O "premium" sound system salvageable?

My wife and I have been through about 11 cars in the last 10 years. While the B&O with sub isn't the best, it ain't the worst by a long shot. On my 2019 PP2 Mustang, I went in and spent $4000 on JL everything. Speaker replacements included adding the preformed sub box in the trunk with an RF...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

First road trip in the new ride — took it from 200 to 500 miles on the odometer lol! Super comfortable and drives great. Averaged 22.5 MPG. Gave BlueCruise a try for about an hour — pretty neat tech, though I doubt I’ll subscribe. The regular adaptive cruise with lane-keep assist that nudges you...

Why Didn't I Get An "ST" Logo Fab? A 2025 Letter to FORD CEO

I'm pretty sure I just ordered the entire FOB from a dealer ($58). It wasn't just the plate. Should get it on Tuesday.

    New Battery

I like the AGM, but one of them in the wife's Lincoln went at 37k miles. Kinda BS. But it is nice how reliably they power all of the goodies in these things, and their life should generally be longer. That's not a bad price. A local shop here sells AGMs for about that, and it's the US company...

Things I have learned with my new (to me) 2020 ST

That is some interesting stuff. I will say that this is my 4th Ecoboost engine, but my first Explorer ST. Also, my 3rd ST. I love these things, and I change the oil every 5K miles regardless with full synthetic.

    Sports Mode

I just wanted to comment and say thank you on this one. My Edge STs never would go into 8th gear in Sport mode, but tinkering around showed me that I thought the Explorer does go into 10th. Never thought of hitting the manual button... DOH! Anyway, it behaves like my Mustang GT in Sport with...
