    Goodbye SS, Hello ST!

First of all, I am sorry about what happened, I am a Ford guy through and through, BUT, I would gladly own and abuse a Chevy SS. With that said, I forget the term, but that type of loss of traction is sort of common in circuit racing. I believe it has to do with the acceleration shifting the...

    Ford Performance Tune

You folks are putting too much stock in the technical details created by the marketing department. It's likely inaccurate

Anyone else noticing cosmetic defects from Factory?

I'm willing to bet it looks much bigger in the photo than it actually is. If I had to guess it's about a half a dime size. Most people don't climb up high enough on a vehicle to see the roof of an SUV when buying a vehicle. This is absolutely a factory "escape", but even with me knowing very...

Anyone else noticing cosmetic defects from Factory?

This is most definitely a warrantable defect, it should absolutely be covered.

    European 451

I wonder what type of torque numbers it is putting up. Is it 600+ like the aviator? @Lightning Struck is it the 10R80 in the hybrid? I thought the entire explorer line up got the 10R60? Or is it some other trans since it is a hybrid?

Anyone else noticing cosmetic defects from Factory?

That looks more like an "ecoat drip" but without cutting into it, it's hard to tell (and could just was well be a glob of paint). Either way you have a clear case of paint warranty defect there, regardless of root cause.

    E85 Question

I can appreciate that someone of his pedigree chimed in with actual design/development experience. Please don't discourage the experts from giving their input, even if it is redundant information. Driving away the members with actual, applied knowledge and experience will leave us with a forum...

Anyone else noticing cosmetic defects from Factory?

Those aren't necessarily factory defects, though they could be. There is a lot of damage that occurs during transport as well, and is more likely to occur there. But there are some factory escapes that happen as well. I am having a hard time seeing what the issues are in the photos. The first...

    Platinum vs st differences?

I think your response falls in line with the OP. He asked how it makes more power. While gearing doesn't "make" power, it does multiply it. I think if there are notable trans gearing differences, that should be noted as well... if anyone knows them.

    Platinum vs st differences?

I would imagine there is something different in the heads (cam profile, intake/exhaust port size, etc.) but I honestly don't really know. It could be just tuning as noted above.

Are you suggesting that drivetrain losses are non-linear? Maybe logarithmic instead?

What Do They Do With the Explorers...

For all we know they may end up crushed. It is possible they are not sell-able vehicles. Just my 2 cents

The Thermal R&D cat back exhaust PREMIER!

I saw that, but if we're comparing apples to apples, I am going off of list price

The Thermal R&D cat back exhaust PREMIER!

I don't know that I would call $80 less (~4.7%) SUBSTANTIALLY less. It is less, but I think substantially less would be more like 20%. From what I gathered the Magnaflow is $1680 and the thermal unit is $1600.

    Thermal R&D exhaust *NOW AVAILABLE*

I'm trying to find comments from @kpkimmel1983 that made him "block worthy". Am I missing something?

    Tuning for dummies

Are you asking if you can switch tunes on the fly, like while driving? I don't believe that is a possibility, but you can switch tunes as often as you want. You just have to be stopped; it takes about 10 minutes to switch tunes.

    Tuning for dummies

Putting 93 octane in an 87 tuned vehicle will not do anything. Putting 87 octane in a 93 octane tuned vehicle *could* damage the engine and I really would not recommend it at all. However if the knock sensors still work as designed, theoretically the engine would be able to pull enough timing...

Did you purchase a GAP insurance policy?

At $300 on a $50k vehicle it was a simple decision for me as well.
