Transmission Fluid Change - Should I or wait?

Just did mine myself at 65k. I used 4 ramps, reversed up so the ramp wasn’t in my way. Harbor freight fluid extractor/dispenser and kevlar gloves. Trans shifts much smoother now and the fluid that came out was still red but it was pretty brown. I think it took right at about 6 qts with a new...

SOLVED: Electrical Issues - Lost Communications and Invalid Data Received

EDIT: My guide for the repair on the AWD module ground are here: https://www.explorerst.org/threads/guide-fixing-awd-module-ground.9634/ Occasionally our 2020 is having somewhat random electrical issues. (Our battery is OEM so I’m considering just replacing it but it keeps testing in good...

    10r60 fluid level

Lol good news is after it cracks loose it will come off easy with your fingers.

    10r60 fluid level

that’s the clearance when on 4 ramps. It is really easy to work under there. i reverse up because the ramp would have been in the way of where I needed to be to get the trans plug out. I set the ramps up on a rug i use in the garage the first time and the second time i did it right on the...

    10r60 fluid level

They are rhyno ramps from oreilly’s. The clearance was really good. I put the ramps behind the wheels and reversed up. It felt very sketchy but in reality i dont think it is. Levels the car great. I should add the transmission was fully warmed up when i drove it with the cap off. The level would...

    10r60 fluid level

Thankfully the dealership topped it off before i bought it so it has been cracked open already. I broke it loose pretty easy with the car cold. It doesn’t need to be very tight, just 30ft lbs. no need to remove anything. And in case you are wondering, with the cap and dipstick out i was able to...

    10r60 fluid level

Actually does anyone know where to get the OEM gasket? I couldn’t find it online and the cheap amazon ones are rubber. I Don’t trust them at all

    10r60 fluid level

I just checked my gasket closely and wiped it clean with my finger. Ford says it’s reusable. Some people say you need to replace it but I reused it and have been under the car multiple times to check and it is still bone dry. I think it is really important to torque the pans accurately with the...

    10r60 fluid level

Yea that’s actually the most annoying thing why do they need so many threads LOL. I used harbor freight kevlar gloves worked amazing

    10r60 fluid level

I don’t see any way the dipstick will snake down to the 10r60 plug location. There’s basically enough clearance for 2 fingers around it and above it is the floor pan. I would save yourself the trouble and look under there first. I circled the spot there. You can see floorpan directly above it.

It happens! These dipsticks are weird

    10r60 fluid level

Guess I’ll update for other people wondering, i left my fluid level where I had it about 1.8 and it’s been driving great. Downshifts as so much smoother and more predictable after drain and fill. Checked the fluid again after a few hundred miles and looks clean and red no bubbles i could see

    10r60 fluid level

2.5 on the dipstick is more fluid than 3. 3.5 is lower than 3. I think you are confused

New fueling option for the Explorer - Port Injection

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding @mitchellj22 concerns about mixing, it is really not complicated at all. Tuners like ZFG are very good about configuring the ECU to detect and prevent knock and learn the fuel mixture over time. So if you have a 93 tune, you can mix up to e30 and make...

New fueling option for the Explorer - Port Injection

There’s also the fact that tuners don’t want to have a reputation of hurting engines. And pump gas is unreliable. Octane ratings can vary and why blow am engine making 500hp on pump when you can make 600 safely on ethanol.

New fueling option for the Explorer - Port Injection

I am not a tuner so take this with a grain of salt. But these 3L already breathe really well from the factory. Upgrading exhaust and intake and charge pipes and even downpipes only gain marginal power when tuned on ethanol but I think those upgrades are at an almost negligible impact to the...

    10r60 fluid level

I just did a drain and fill with a new filter. Ford recommends the fluid level be between 4.5 - 3 on the dipstick. But I know folks on this forum have said it should be at about 2.5. Before I drained it, i checked the fluid level at 97C and it was at a 2 with the rear end slightly lower than...

New fueling option for the Explorer - Port Injection

I don’t think the previous responses were helpful so I’ll try. For optimal power you need a specific ratio of air to fuel. With premium gas, you can achieve that ratio easily with the factory fuel system. Adding more premium fuel will not add power, it will just reduce efficiency by making the...

2025 Trans Slamming into 3rd (sometimes)

I second this. It’s not hard. Buy kevlar sleeves from harbor freight for 11$. You just need a 19mm wrench and those sleeves to prevent burns. Operational temp takes a long time to get to 205f. don’t just assume it’s up to temp, you need to verify. I use 4 ramps and reverse up them. Makes trans...
