How can they even do that on a vehicle you already purchased, own, and brought back? **** that. Id be getting the cops involved, report the vehicle stolen, or just use your other key and go get it back.
Since weve already done the paper work i just wonder what they will do (if anything at all) to compensate us for our "Cooperation". Probably a crisp high five and a firm handshake.

That's what's most aggravating. I get it's a "safety" thing, but come on. Backup cameras are a crutch. We used mirrors for how long?

Let me take my damn vehicle and if the camera goes out I'll use the mirrors until it can get fixed.
Exactly. I would totally understand if it were a powertrain or a safety issue without a backup system but it’s a camera. We got 3 mirrors for a reason. And it’s an intermittent issue at that.

this will definitely be our first and last new car and probably will be our last Ford. When the dust settles from this new car, I was considering trading in my truck for a Raptor R or a King Ranch or keeping it and getting a Mustang GT but I may be looking into other manufacturers.

Ya for us we just put 500 down to reserve it. They already said they are giving us 35000 for my truck and it's on paper (they did a whole worksheet) so I'm gonna hold them to that. If I bring it back in September when it's ready with about 10k more miles on it I still want 35k. If not I'm walking. There's enough of these things around you can throw a rock and hit one. Every Ford dealer has several.

I doubt we’ll get both, maybe one or the other. I asked and it was pretty much summed up to “we gave you a loaner, what more do you want?”

Well hopefully they don’t sell it out from under you like they did us. I found out from one of the mechanics that someone at the dealership actually bought our trade in Acura RDX.
I was actually told not to return to the dealership because I was there 2 weeks ago (since they won’t answer the phone) and over heard a salesperson trying to trap an older couple on an King Ranch explorer by saying it’s a minor recall that will be resolved by the time the car gets here. As soon as he left them alone, I told them why I was there and they were a little upset. I was asked by the GM not to return until the car is ready for pickup ‍♂️
You are taking this a little better than I would have. I would set aside time every day to hang out in the showroom waiting to tell potential victims of the way the stealership is going to scam them.

You could also contact the local news agencies about the dealerships practices and see if they will bite. This worked for me on a road that was constructed wrong leading into our neighborhood. Got the road torn up and fixed.

If you can forgive them, I also have a GT and it's a blast to drive. I just ordered a supercharger kit for it.

I had a supercharged 2006 GT with a GT500-like facelift and loved it. Ended up getting rear-ended by a teenage girl texting and it was totaled. But I do miss it so I would like a new one but just depends on what I’m wanting when it comes time.
There’s nothing wrong with my current truck, it’s a 16 XLT with all parts from upper trims (cluster, 360 cam, ACC, BLIS, etc) with the ford performance turbos (3.5L engine) aftermarket tune fox suspension etc. If it’s still fitting the bill, I’ll lean more towards another GT.

I would suggest to request the dealer to take this up with Ford for compensation. I have already reached out to the local dealership in UAE and also taken this up with ford middle east. Dealers are also at loss as they are also not able to sell due to a safety fault arising from defect/manufacturing fault. If customers have put in their trust and faith in ford and many are voluntarily waiting for the car patiently, it is fair that ford should also compensate the customers. Try to use twitter and it will definitely get noticed at the highest level. Ford is pretty active on twitter.

Would you happen to have a screen shot or link? I can’t find it. The only thing I have found says “undefined”

Found it!

Remedy
Currently, Ford Motor Company does not have a permanent fix available however, if you observe a blue or black screen on the rearview 360 degree camera when in reverse, Ford has authorized your dealer to update the camera systems software as an interim repair prior to availability of the permanent fix. The interim repair is anticipated to become available beginning the week of August 7, 2023 and is being offered free of charge parts and labor. You will receive another letter when a permanent fix becomes available.

I hope they lift recall instruction with this as well as ‘Stop Sale’ instruction.

I’m wondering if they will lift the stop sale as well. I’ve been waiting to get an ST for several months now and been in the car market even longer.
my current daily driver is a 2007 and doesn’t even have a 360 degree camera or even a backup camera. I’ve been using mirrors. Besides the camera even has a disclaimer that says not to Solely relay on the camera but instead use your vision.

I spoke to the Salesman yesterday, and he said he asked the managers about the recall interim fix and the managers ignored the salesman on if we the buyer could take the vehicle home after the 7 Aug.

Spoke with my salesperson today.

He stated that to his knowledge, the interim repair is only for owners already in possession of their vehicles. The repair will not be for vehicles sitting due to the stop sale in affect. Anyone waiting on an explorer affected by the recall will have to wait until the permanent fix is available.

I hope he is wrong. Any longer and we will be seeking ways to get out of this deal.

The interesting thing is that I’ve had 2 or 3 “software updates” done to mine, and the problem has only gotten worse over time. Basically I just consider the problem unrepairable at this point and go back to reversing the way I learned how to do it 22 years ago.

It’s kinda sad that we’re at the point now where an assistive feature like a rear view camera can immobilize otherwise fully functional vehicles waiting to be sold.

Sweet, sounds like they're giving us an extra dollop of Vaseline, before cramming it balls deep into those of us with malfunctioning camera systems.

Sadly, my wife and I were those suckers lured into the trap of getting a 23 with the manager of the dealership reassuring us that the problem "has been out for awhile now and will be fixed any day". They even further sweetened the deal by not scheduling our first payment until the end of September. Thankfully we have another vehicle so we are not hurting for a new car but the Explorer we purchased is now just sitting on the lot and my family and I have to keep getting a run around on when we can take the vehicle home. We already feel pretty dumb so id rather not get hazed on here for that lol. I just hope the issue gets fixed soon (fingers crossed).
No hazing at all. I feel like you may have been mislead a bit.
I would be upset at the dealership and focus my energy on those hosers.
I may even threaten to walk in hopes of getting a better deal or parlay it into a 24. But the 24s, the front grill, I don't love it. I like the rear tail lights though.
My .02.

I wouldnt mind trying to get a 24 honestly but since we already did the final paperwork and have the 23 financed (payments not due till 27 Sep) i dont think we will be able to.

Interesting, mine has been the opposite, it got better with the updates. I maybe have the issue once every 2 months or so, its also my DD.
