I know there has been a ton of posts about which tune to get, which tune is the best, how many tenths are shaved off at the track, ect..
I just installed Gear Head's Auto Octane Tune that was done by Cory @ sales@ghtuning.com, and I couldn't be happier.
I am no a drag strip owner, I drive here in South Florida and when you run this tune on 93 octane, the truck is quick as can be and the shifting is beyond smooth and comfortable.
Gear Head was awesome, and super easy to deal with.
I already had the SCT tuning Device from a prior Explorer tune, so the decision to keep that tuner was a easy decision for me.
I do have a CV Fab Intercooler that is critical to this particular tune.
Overall, for increased quickness and shifting, this is the perfect tune in my opinion.

In the same boat , had a SCT device i used on previous vehicle. I also have the GH A/O tune , and the JDM tune. Both tunes are great for my application.
JDM tune seems to be a little quicker from my experience than the GH tune. 4.09 0-60 with the JDM and 4.28 0-60 with the GH tune. Sure i could get a little better from both if i tried.
But all in all cant go wrong with either IMO , both great tunes!

Also using the GH A/O tune here in So Flo and loving it. The sequential transmission shifts and elimination of the Sport Mode gear hold was worth the cost of the tune alone. The added power is the cherry on top and I think the truck now drives as it should have from the factory. Even the Sport mode downshift into 3rd gear is less thunky.

I really like my GH AO tune. It is quick for a AO tune and I don't have to worry about the Wife throwing in 91 by mistake. The shifting is really, really good. Hard to beat, especially at his pricing.

That being said, now that I am into the gas mixing (which I was initially hesitant about) I am going to purchase the E30 tune revision they offer in the very near future
yeah going for there e30 tune here also in a couple of weeks myself. See how that will compare with my JDM tune.

I looked into the JDM Tune at first but it was a little more pricey and it sounded almost too good to be true to hit those types of numbers on a caned tune on 93 octane. Those are ZFG numbers! The JDM Tune claims 100+ HP & 150+ Torque....

Based on the dyne that GearHead posted this is what I see more or less:
GH A/O Tune looks like a 50hp gain
GH A/O Tune with UPGRADED Intercooler looks like 75+hp
GH E30 Tune with UPGRADED Intercooler looks like 175+hp

I guess my questions for you is why would you change the tune? All things considered it sounds like JDM has the more powerful tune unless you upgrade your intercooler... Do you have an upgraded intercooler?

175+ HP increase on 93/30? On stock turbos? A two year old chart? Although that chart looks kosher mathematically, something smells wrong here. Looking at the chart, I would have to believe that "splash blending" e30 with 93 resulted in approx 100HP over a 93 tune? In fact, it nets 20HP and 20 lb/ft more than a @ZFGracing e50 tune?

What other mods? We need to compare apples/apples.

Real world info, mine completely stock with just gearhead auto octane tune ran 12.5 on dragy in good air. Since adding intercooler and intake I've ran 11.9 with some ethanol splashed in and 12.14 best with no ethanol in good air.

I doubt you can find any tune that shifts better than gearhead and probably none that are even close on price. I wouldn't recommend their e30 tune at this point but the AO tune is awesome.

Recently went with GH E30 tune from the 5-star E50 tune. I haven't done a draggy time on it yet; however, it feels faster and fixed all the issues of the hard over aggressive shifts. The trans shifts feel as they should. Next week I will be installing CV fab downpipes so the guys at GH are revising my current E30 tune. I'm looking forward to seeing how it runs after the downpipes.

Yes I have a intercooler , I have ran both tuners tunes on previous vehicle's and was completely satisfied as I am with there tunes on the ST.

I wouldn't recommend their e30 tune at this point
Why not?

Why not?
It runs basically the same exact times as the AO tune, at least with my vehicle. They did send me a new revision a few days ago but so far I haven't tried it out yet. It drives fine just like the ao tune, no issues there.

That’s not mine. I took it at face value. Mods are listed as tune and upgraded intercooler. I took it directly off of GearHead’s website. Not my personal data.

So how does the GH E30 Tune compare to the JDM Tune? Both claim high HP numbers

The E30 tune gave you same numbers as the A/O?? That seems crazy seeing their dyno. Something isn’t adding up

Stop looking at dyno numbers from different places. They will vary wildly and are a useless comparison.
Track numbers, and to a large degree Dragy numbers, don’t lie.

Don't know , i only have the GH A/O tune as of now.

But the JDM tune is consistently between 2-3 tenths quicker than the GH A/O tune.
Not knocking the GH tune at the least the tune behaves great , just my personal experience with both tunes.

I’m would love to hear your opinion on that E30 tune once you get it up and running. I have been thinking of getting it myself, but a little hesitant based on @ridered74 testimony

You can blend up to E30 on anyone’s tune…you don’t need a specific tune for it.
