I remember back in the 90s guys were buying Fox Body LX 2.3s and slapping the 5.0 emblems and wheels on them. You’d have no idea until you looked at the tailpipes and saw the dinky little tailpipe on the 2.3L

ironically, the tailpipes are the first thing I look at when I see an Explorer in the distance. None, single tip or dual. I’ve seen some badge swapped ST-lines but nobody ever changes the tailpipes

Some Clickbait article caught my eye today. What caught my eye was the color of the ST in it. I know it's fake. I figure this is an edited photo based Vapor Blue, but I absolutely love this color. Looks like the new Adriatic Blue Metallic that is on the Mustang (mimicking the 93 Cobra teal).

But if this was a real color offering, it would be absolutely badass. Ford....less whites/greys, more colors like this.

Might be a question for anyone who works at ford. Can you see part for the ‘27s yet?

My vehicle is at the body shop right now due to getting rear ended. Looking to grab a set of the Sinister Package ST emblems for the liftgate and grill. I figure if the body shop has to order me a new one, might as well get those.

I think production for the ‘27s is about to start which is why I am wondering if I can buy the emblems yet

Agreed.

I can see the wheels adding a little cost. While they are the same wheels as the Plat, Ford probably incurs a small cost to make a limited batch of them in Black likely in smaller numbers, but would need to see Ford's accounting numbers to see how true this is. It's offset by the cost credit of the standard 21" wheels however. The Amber DRL's are likely a ForScan change, and the badges gotta be what? $50-75 tops? Profit maker for Ford right there as I can see that package being popular.

If the Active also has Amber DRLs, that sorta waters down the package IMHO as it's no longer a differentiating feature on some ST's.

But just my opinion.

Speaking of badges, can't wait to find out what the P/N is for them as I like the red badging, but would prefer the black surround vs chrome. IIRC, the 25+ ST badges are compatible with 20-24, but reversed? (Grill badge is liftgate and vice versa)
Surprisingly, the amber DRLs do actually require a physically different headlight. Not as simple as a Forscan change. Not defending Ford here but thats just the fact of the matter. It will ultimately be cheaper for them to manufacture, as the headlight will no longer have the dual-color Amber/White LED. It will just be a single Amber colored LED strip.
