I got in to stock work years back, some were simply modified OE stocks dressed up, others were a lot more involved than that. The first few were kind of fun, but the truth is they are a lot of work. I did one for each of my kids and a few friends.
I was big into woodworking as a kid. Built some furniture in shop class. My problem was the final steps. Never had the patience for it.

Nice that you made some for personal gifts. That one looks beautiful.

As a fresh-faced 18-year-old, which was a "number" of ever-increasing years ago, I walked into the gun department of a Gibson's Discount Center in West Texas, plunked down $99.00, and walked out with this beauty, which began what I like to refer to as a life-long affinity (my wife refers to it as an "addiction") for firearms.

Behold the .22 LR Apache Black Remington Nylon 66, which I still have, still shoot, and really consider to be my favorite-ever gun:

i have the same rifle that I inherited from my grandfather many years ago. It is a fun rifle to shoot. He shot many skunks on the farm with it. LOL

I have been fortunate to expose quite a few non-American friends to shooting. Most had the same reaction. First wondering why we have so many guns. After shooting many different types for a weekend they couldn’t believe how fun it was. They also began to understand our 2nd. All in all a very positive experience for them, even the women!

Shooting is fun period. Happens to be really good for defending your family as well!

Have a CZ Shadow 2 compact at my dealer, just have to get time to pick her up. Have a Shadow 2 fullsize but she's too heavy for IDPA, so got the compact version to use for it.

Squib load. Ugly, just ugly.

On second thought, given the condition of the cylinder, I'd also have to consider perhaps a double load. I'd still lean towards a squib load.

Squib load then a normal follow up shot, the bulge in the barrel is the giveaway. A double load would have grenaded the cylinder.

That's what I'd suspect, though I've seen a double load literally turn the bullet sideways in the barrel and blow the whole side out of the revolver, leaving the bullet in the remainder of the barrel too. It was a Ruger RedHawk, in .44 Magnum. The cylinder looked a little worse than the one pictured.

Can't get my head around some double charge accidents. It's tough to put a bunch more powder in a .44.

The video below is in essence the same effect as a squib.
