CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Check engine light came on, on way home from dealer. Not even 10 miles after my purchase. Called dealer next day said to bring it in will check it out. Brought it in they cleared the code said probably something from the factory. Came back on later that day. Back in the shop now. They don't know what is wrong could be something in the wiring they said they will probably have to call Ford engineering. Not sounding very promising. My Ford Pass says Alert Detail: Malfunction Indicator Lamp - Regulatory What is happening? Engine system has detected a fault. What should I do? Refer to OBD-II in the owners manual for information on temporary malfunctions that may not require service. Light Stays on: The vehicle may still be drivable and not require towing. Has anybody else had this issue? I put my OBD-II on and is says PENDING CODES P00 56 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 2 and P01 57 O2 sensor Circuit Low Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 2. PERMANENT CODES say the same thing. They said that that is not the problem. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark

Sounds a lot like an O2 sensor has come unplugged since both the data circuit and the heater circuit are throwing codes. Either unplugged or the circuit is otherwise broken somehow, like a burnt-through wire or a cut wire or something similar. If it's sensor 2 it should be a downstream one if I'm not mistaken which means it's likely under the car. Not sure which side of this engine is bank 2.

Thanks for the info. I passed it on to the ford dealer. I will see what they find out and will update you on what it ends up being.

So we had the CEL come on at around 6500 miles. Just got it back from Ford, here's the writeup. Searched for this SSM but didn't find anything online.

"FDRS CONNECTED KOEO SELF TEST PCM DTC RETRIEVED P0456 SMALL LEAK DETECTED. CHECKED OASIS FOR TSB AND SSM, FOUND SSM 48398 FOLLOWED PROCEDURE LEAD TO PIN POINT TEST HX1 YES HX2 NO HX40 YES HX46 YES HX47 YES HX48 YES HX49 NO INSTALL PURGE VALVED INSTALLED PURGE VALVE RETEST PASS. CLEARED CODES RESET KAM TEST DROVE PASS."

If anyone knows what this means please let me know.

From what I read it is something like this: "Connected diagnostic machine and pulled ODB code P0456, small leak detected. Checked dealer info system for TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) and SSM (Can't remember this acronym but similar to TSB) and found these tests to try, and found an issue with the purge valve (probably a purge valve connection issue). Cleared the CEL code and reset KAM (Keep Alive Memory). Test drove with no issues found."

That's probably not exact, but pretty close

Don’t mean to bring up an old thread. I just got this CEL and Ford Pass gave me the same alert. Did the dealer O2 sensor replacement fix this?
