If you purchased your explorer from a Ford dealer you could inquire with them or call Fords customer experience center and inquire about a free trial. Personally I have tried it several times and I just don't like it. I'm old and set in my ways about having the steering wheel in my hands. I have a long trip planned soon so I might try it again. We will see.
Same (old and set), but it turns out I really like it, both on freeways in the city and for long grinds, PHX to LA on I-10 for example. Adaptive cruise is the first part of that, had a basic version on last car, really learned how to maximize benefit there, and BlueCruise is next step…. It is very relaxing and keeps things smoother and calmer out there… somebody cutting in from right lane because they weren’t paying attention to the slow truck we are approaching? No issues, ST adjusts, locks in on that new “target” and we just keep rolling…. Brake stompers ahead? Again, no fuss no muss, ST adjusts…. Lane change - with automatic level turned off? Set signal, ST slows a bit if needed to drop in behind, or if lane clear, moves quickly over and matches traffic. Traffic slowing, even stopping? No inputs needed, let it do its thing, makes jams “not an issue.”
I learned that I don’t have to completely and totally control everything constantly, and everything is calmer and smoother. I don’t ever feel like I am NOT in full control of the vehicle, just that I now exert that control in different ways, using the new tools and capabilities to the max.
Of course, when I want to, a quick stomp on the go pedal will quickly get me past a developing issue to let the other monkeys figure their shit out after I am out of there…
