I recently bought a 2023 Explorer ST from a salvage auction, which came with a clan title.

I’m excited to repair and modify it, focusing on modifications that actually make a difference, such as an intercooler, downpipes, a 4-bolt rear subframe, and a tune.

I’ve owned a tuned 2014 Explorer Sport for the past 10 years, and this one feels like a moderate upgrade. The only downside is the aesthetic and comfort of the rear seats, their foldability, and the absence of adjustable pedals. Oh, and there’s no 4-bolt rear subframe. Even the 14-inch rear diff that barely sees much torque has a 4-bolt.

Welcome from another new guy. You are a man with a plan. And, a man with some decent mechanical skills. Should be an interesting build.

Welcome and good luck on that adventure!

It will be a bit of work.
I have all major parts, including matching paint doors and rooflines with airbags from another ST - salvage yard.

Unfortunately have first fix my 2014 “ST” before diving in onto 23 - one of the turbos gave out

The '14: it'll look like new with a little soap and water.

That turbo replacement offers you an opportunity. "For just a few more dollars, we (it's important to use the plural, I've found) could get a bigger turbo AND, if we buy two, Garrett gives a nice discount".

What happened to the turbo? Are you having it rebuilt or just replacing? Both or just the ailing unit?

Have you got a shop or doing the work in the garage? I hope Spring has sprung up your way (the garage floor is gonna be cold if winter hasn't given up yet).

I have installed two rebuilt turbos in November last year and the rebuilt rear turbo has large amount of shaft play and spewing oil into exhaust. 1 year warranty- so I sent it back. I been abusing it a lot with new turbos.

Been working in the cold garage - eather sit on top of the radiator support or down below on a creeper to get to all of the bolts.

I have Quick Jack equivalent for a lift (VEVOR $999)

14 - I just need to fix it to sell (will sell once 23 is done) .

Lol-ed at "...been abusing it a lot with new turbos". Turbo tester is just another talent you possess - the rebuilder should be improving the product based on what he find wrong with the turbo sent in for warranty work.

I have been looking at QuickJacks for years and didn't take the plunge. Yet. Race Ramps, a floor jack, and jack stands have been my standard. And every time I finish a job I say it's time to get a QJ. That Vevor unit looks suspiciously like a QJ - maybe made in the same factory? Or, a copy of the QJ factory built in a different town to be discrete... Great pricing and it's doing the job.

Can I recommend you use a heater in the garage in the cold months to take the edge off the frosty air? Cold concrete and cold fingers can result in aching joints as you get older.

Thanks, last few days it got up to mid 50s.
A year ago I had to do a timing chain in December with outside temp of 5 F low and 20F high, had 2 electric heaters near me and lots of layers on me, Car was on jack stands. Once I did that job - I bought this lift to ease my life .

Walmart sells VEVOR Jack under a different name for less. they come in in VeVoR box. Welds are really good, build in China just like QJ, hydraulics are nice.

Bought 5,ooolb , but now days its a bit different design
