Hello everyone. I was browsing parts on lethal performance and saw that AFE is offering a 65mm throttle body upgrade that fits the explorer ST. I am curious if anyone has done this upgrade and if it was worth it at all? I understand it would be most beneficial with upgraded turbos or bigger/serious builds.

Link? Never heard of it nor anyone running any aftermarket unit.

Not really needed on a pressurized system like this. No on something that draws through like a Whipple supercharger you want as big as you can get. IIRC the one on my F150 was 132mm.

I'm just curious how much of a difference it makes. Regardless on amount, considering its less than $500. I know there's people that will buy anything that helps give them any kind of power.

I'm curious if it needs tuning. I have no plans to install one however.

I know when i change throttle body size on my Mustangs (N/A setup if that matters), i need to make some slight adjustments to the tune for drivability.

None. I tested a bunch of different size TB’s on a ProCharged truck of mine…none made any more power but the bigger they got the more drivability issues showed up.

If you got a aftermarket throttle body you absolutely should tune for it.
