Like I said, everyone is different. If you are the type of person who wants the best available, a custom tune is for you. The Livernois has very good performance for a canned tune, is easy to setup and use, and also shifts great. As far as the skip gears, my understanding is that Ford uses that to keep as low RPM as possible to save fuel. It is not used in sport mode. I also read someone post that in later PCM calibrations, the skip gears was abandoned which resulted in smoother shifting--don't know if that's true but my 2026 ST shifts much better and smoother than my 2020 did out of the gate. After two PCM updates and Livernois tune, the 2020 shifted really well and for me, one of the main benefits of the tune. I've always appreciated that Livernois updates were free because from the time I purchased it in 2020, they've made numerous updates to the tune and it's always been for the better.
I myself am waiting for Livernois to officially support the 2026's with their tune. Unfortunately, they tell me the MyCalibrator device that I had for my 2020 is an old version and is not compatible with 2025+.
