Hello Guys!

I really love the desing and capabilities from the Explorer ST 2025, therefore Im planning to buy one for my family but doing some research at google I just realized that there are many complaints with this SUV such as:

- Infotainment failures
- PCM failures
- Bad Quality of assembly, many noises at the cabin.
- Electronic issues, brakes flailure, steering and all systems.
- Engine and transmisison issues.

I would really appreciate your honest input in terms you can guide me if these problems really exist or not. Im not willing to pay for some vehicule that has a lot of complaints at atll. You as users, you really recommend it?

Many thanks!

Infotainment sometimes crashes sometimes, but it’s not all out failures. Never heard of PCM failures. Noises, yes, unfortunately that is common. Electronic issues, not really common. Engine and transmission failures are uncommon.

I've yet to have one that occurred more than once, or has come back repeatedly.

I've just completed the first year of ownership of my 2025 ST (7,500 miles) and haven't had any problems with it. It's had three recalls that haven't been for showstopper issues. I bought this car with some trepidation after reading of reliability issues with Gen 6 Explorers but from monitoring forums like this one it seemed that by 2025 most big issues have been remedied. Don't get me wrong, the SUV has some idiosyncratic behaviors with the electronics that are more annoying than incapacitating. So far I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase and I enjoy being behind the wheel of the ST. Good luck.

When you break it down its issues that can happen on any vehicle. Unfortunately Ford is going through a bit of a rough patch in QA but seems it is pretty industry-wide at this rate. The good news is that it seems there aren't any glaring big issues like what is happening with Toyota and GM engines.

Like most newer vehicles the powertrains do not tolerate abuse when it comes to maintenance. Keep levels correct and change fluids sooner than later. Use quality stuff.

Ford has had more recalls than all other automakers for (5) consecutive years in a row and is already way ahead for 26'. This is not just a "rough patch". This is now Ford's culture.

Yea they have a lot of reflection to do to overcome that. This is my first Ford vehicle having owned mostly japanese with one exception of a Saturn back in the day. I've been burnt by Infinity and Subaru with pretty severe issues. Infinity was a engine replacement due to bad piston rings. Subaru multiple with one of them being my WRX breaking a fuel hose that sprayed fuel all over my hot engine while driving. Infinity was a fight as they never really recalled the vehicle and I had to fight them tooth and nail over TSBs etc. Subaru denied there was a problem till Toyota got fined to the moon for some kind of bullshit they were hiding and Subaru got scared and finally did a recall 10 years later (I still had the vehicle).

That being said the point I'm making is that they all have problems, and how many recalls there are is definitely a measure to consider, but there are also other factors like makers hiding problems and not recalling serious issues. Sometimes its the quality vs. quantity to consider. Like 10 little recalls over small problems doesn't add up to a serious recall like how toyota is spending billions to replace their v-6 TT motors at the moment. GM is going to be next as all their efforts to stop their 6.2L's from self-shredding are failing.
