My father and mother. He was a Navy Corpsman, and retired as a Chief (E-7) after 22 years of service. Received the Purple Heart for wounds he received in the Korean War, while attached to a Marine unit. One of his last assignments was helping train the original Mercury astronauts to ride the human centrifuge. My mother was a Navy nurse (LTjg). She had to resign her commission when she married my father. Enlisted and officers couldn't be married back then. As for me, I put 26 years in the Army. Ten as a Military Policeman (patrol, K-9, Nuclear security, and SWAT), and then 16 years as a criminal investigator in the CID. Retired as a CW3.

@Rky Mtn ST : God Bless you and your patriotic family. It's a shame just how backward the Military was back then.

WOW, your father was a WWII hero* and YOU are a double hero--I THANK YOU VERY MUCH for serving.

* If he lived thru that winter in the hell of the Ardennes, he was a hero.
