Today, we have a 2025 Explorer ST in the shop for some custom tuning from ZFG Racing. We take your through what tunes they offer, the device you will need to flash the tune, and showing some before and after 0-60 data to showcase the tune’s impressive results.

Check out the full overview and results here!

I have a quick question. I'm typically someone who tunes my vehicles, so I plan to do the same with my new ST after it has accumulated several thousand miles. ZFG is definitely at the top of my list for tuning options. However, I want to confirm that Ford sometimes rolls back vehicles to stock via over-the-air updates. Is this a common issue? If it happens, what does it mean for my steps after that happens?

I can't say exactly, but what I do personally is turn off the automatic updates in the settings to avoid any potential headache.

OK. And I do see that as an option, but I feel I will want to update at some point, considering these have the new Ford experience SW. Just trying to get an idea of the size of the can of worms. 8 oz, or 16 oz lol.

HPTuners just came out with a warning to turn off OTA updates, if you dont, it’ll just overwrite the tune and you can’t load it back on, you’ll need to have the tuner update the tune.
