HP Tuners develope the device, they’re not a tune themselves. ZFG is the tuner who uses the HP Tuners device.

Ahhh thank you!
Still learning about this stuff.

So this is just an interface?

I’m used to the old style of tuning, camshafts, pistons… just bore it .60 over

This release has nothing to do with the Explorers but it does get everyone one step closer.

Correct it’s just a device to program the car, you still need someone like ZFG to write the tune.

so what is HP coming out with? I don’t understand. I did see that the new Mustang ECU has been cracked, or is tunable, or whatever

That was the announcement they cracked the Mustang, F150, Bronco, 2021-23 Expedition and F150 PCMs and they are now tunable. It’s relevant to this platform because that brings them closer to being able to tune the 2025 Explorers, whose PCM is still locked.

right, got it. That’s what I figured but got confused. Thanks man.

so who’s taking bets on whether @UNBROKEN gets a ‘25-‘26?

Maybe he needs a new project? He’s done just about everything now that the audio is done.
He has certainly put in a lot of quality work, hopefully he gets to enjoy it before starting something new.

I don’t think he will, he always said if he sold his car he’d go back to the Golf platform.

HPTuners is working on support. There is not ETA.

Once available you'll see tuners use it to tune 25. I think we are all excited for that!

I traded my 23 ST for a 25 ST. I still have my Accessport with Cobb maps for the 23. Is it likely that Cobb will release 25 maps once the PCM is unlocked? Just wondering if I should keep the Accessport because I have over $700 invested in it, and right now it's a paper weight.

HPTuners will be the one to crack the 2025s first based on everything they’ve been doing. Cobb could follow, but a lot later.

COBB is working on the unlock as well as HPTuners. Usually once once company finds an unlock, others do shortly after. Shouldn't be much longer after one that the other finds it

Yep…I’m always low key shopping for a 2019 Golf R. I don’t like the 25 ST’s at all…can’t see building another one.

I drove a buddy’s R the other day, just simple tune and downpipe, that thing moved!

I used to race the GTI’s at limerock back in the day.
The guys would tweak them then and I used to fly around that track.
Could never figure out how to keep all 4 wheels on the ground at the first corner, up on 3, sometimes 2!

@UNBROKEN , how well do you fit in them?

A touch snug but I fit. I drove out Mk7 daily for a year or more. We’re on our 2nd Mk8 and I jump in that every chance I get on the weekends. The Mk7.5 R though…that’s the pinnacle of that platform IMO. It’s the perfect blend of digital and analog.
